General Coach Candidate News

I don’t know about the AAU call. This is a board of former IU athletes that Dolson had to meet with every other week to discuss hirings. Just like the woman’s soccer coach last week. He doesn’t need their approval but he does have to discuss the process with them. Do I believe he’s giving them specific information? No I don’t.

I wonder if it just means Barnwell is on his list of candidates and if others say no and it gets to him then that’s when he would be hired

As a guy that watches ACC basketball Clemson is on the short list of teams that I don’t want to play. Brownell is doing pretty good at a shithole program like Clemson. However, I agree with most it’s just not the hire that needs to be made.

I like Clemson in the short term because they beat Duke not too long ago which gave me a little burst of joy, otherwise I'm ambivalent on them lol

That would be such a buzzkill.

So now this board is going to Implode because one  guy who has been wrong so many times says something about Brownell. Some of you are so gullible and wanting info you will believe anything. I can promise you that Dolson isn't going around telling everybody around campus what his plans are. SMH!!!!!

We're all happier than a camel on Wednesday (note the hump reference) that you're here to set us gullibles straight!

Thanks for sharing Chris. You are only relaying what you hear. IMO Brad Brownell doesn’t seem like someone who is in Dolson’s/IU’s league. It just sounds like big turd. ;)

I just hope in this situation more smokescreens, even coming from boosters to get everyone off Steven’s trail.
jmo

The last 25 years should've taught us not to underestimate IU's ability to IU.

And no I don't think Brownell is actually a candidate, but someone equally disappointing wouldn't be surprising.

If Barnwell is on his list of candidates we are in bigger trouble than I thought. Bill Barnwell is an NFL writer who has no coaching experience at the D1 level.  What is he thinking?

See he’s such an irrelevant candidate to me that I don’t even know his name

This will be the 5th tournament Brownell has made in 15 years at Clemson. It’d be hard to find a coach who has made fewer tournaments than IU over the past 15 years, but you’d really have to tip your cap to Dolson if he can pull that off.

Oof. Shut it down, you’ve won today.

If we're not a good enough program anymore, where we can't get a Stevens, May, Pearl, Oats, Drew, Golden, TJ, or McDermott(maybe few more), then we've solidified ourselves as "once a blue blood" program.

Top money for a coach/coaches

Top NIL money

Top fanbase(pro or con)

The money to upgrade facilities where needed?

We need a homerun -Brownell is far from it

So if that is the case then UK is no longer a blue blood as well since they struck out on of their top candidates. People need to just look at the last 5 years of job openings and who was hired. A lot of of top jobs had come open and haven't been filled with elite coaches

Ok, been thinking about this Stevens thing all day.  First, I am not a big Stevens guy.  I am neutral at best.

But I think Stevens is trolling Goodman, and Goodman took the bait.  Words mean things.  Even if he was quoted as saying "I am not a candidate" what does that really mean?  It doesn't mean anything.  Think about it.  Season is still going on.  Most current coaches who would be candidates are still coaching and can't really be contacted.  Has Dolson even "officially started" the search so people are actually candidates?

Second, if we review the activities of the other day, it was suggested that IU basically had an agreement in principle with Stevens.  That again, takes Stevens out of the "candidate" definition because he is actually the coach in waiting.

So who the hell knows.

I don’t think Chris Beard is a “bad guy”, I don’t want to rehash it or argue about it. I backed off supporting him because I want as united a fanbase as possible, not because I believe he is a loose canon or a wife beater. I can remember when people thought Bruce Pearl was a “bad man” and he was getting skipped over by elite programs….all he did was win everywhere he went, even at schools that didn’t normally have winning basketball programs. If Dolson chooses Beard I will not only be happy but I won’t be worried that he is going to embarrass us off the court. But right now, I would take Dusty or even McDermott over Beard, because I think both are very capable and because they won’t be divisive as I fear Beard would be…..
