That's the way you hire Beard...float out names of terrible hires and act like you are going to hire them, and then BOOM! Beard is the saving grace hire that everyone can "live with" in regards to the baggage he brings.

Guys, the Beard stuff shouldn’t need to be explained this much. Everyone knows that he is a great coach. There is so much more involved. Our NIL resources are a huge advantage. You take a huge risk in losing big donors when you try to hire a polarizing (bad guy) like Beard. Make no mistake, you do the things he’s done and you’re a bad guy. We shall see. Depends on if we start getting turned down. I mean if we hire a guy like bronwell while passing on beard nobody can complain if things go south.

15 people would have to turn down the job before either one of those guys is given a second look.  They aren't real candidates beyond a message board.  

Stevens said no, but May, McDermott, Cronin, Williams, McCollum, McMillan, Few, Oates, Pearl, Jay Wright, Shaka Smart, etc.  The list of coaches you approach before on of those goes through candidates that would not say no.  Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if Alford is higher on the list than either of those guys.

Brownell and Beard are candidates only within message board speculation.  It's not real.
