Every national media person I have seen has said we should talk to Stevens. OMG what are we doing talking to him. If he says keep talking then we will, if he says no thanks than we move on to Dusty. Nothing crazy there

There was a time when Gottlieb was at ESPN that he would go out of his way to bash IU and its fans, kind of like a current guy but actually worse. We used to troll the Hell out of him. Lol, the good old days

Aside from the explanations others have offered, the media folks have journalistic standards to meet before reporting something. Others can probably outline those better than I but usually they’d have to get 2 or more sources on background to print something.

And that’s setting aside their considerations about continuing relationships with sources. If you know something about a coaching search it doesn’t mean you can print it

Not necessarily.  We have a lot of dot connecting, second hand conversations and stuff.  Not the kind of stuff the media will get behind and actually report.  They probably "hear" the same stuff, but can't report it because they can't source it -- maybe they still have some credibility left.
