Haha!

I'm trying to be balanced. Like I said earlier, I can't lose, either way Brad Stevens is coaching one of my favorite teams.

Its also been a long time since I worked for the Celtics, but most of the same people are all still there. So I'm by no means an insider, but I do know how those people think and typically operate from the inside.

With that said, I don't think the timing has ever been better for a Stevens/IU marriage. While i know Danny and the Celtics ownership love him, and the rational fans love him, 9 years is still a long time for the NBA.

I still don't think it will happen, but the timing seems as close as it has ever been, but if it does it will be Stevens' choice, not the Celtics firing him.

Guys.....I have to admit,  this possible or potential "Coach Steven + IU marriage" reminds me of watching the Bachelor/ Bachelorette with my wife.

YESSSSSSS,.... I watch those two shows because I love my wife and those are the things we do for our spouses. I guarantee I'm not the only one on here who does. They're DVR'd and haven't missed an episode. I guarantee I'm not the only one on here who does this for their loved one.

ANYWAY..........my analogy between the Bachelor/Bachelorette and Coach Stevens is spot on. Potential candidates (IU fans) portray their love and desire to be chosen for that final ROSE. They are constantly trying to "pitch" why they should be "THE ONE", even telling them they love him. All the while, the Bachelor, "Coach Stevens" shows interest, but can never really say his true feelings until that Final Rose.

Will we (IU Fans) get that FINAL ROSE?

My wife would be so proud of me.....

You know things are getting surreal when there's a comparison between the IU basketball coach search and the Bachelor\Bachlorette!  But one thing I have to agree with is that Stevens almost seemed to ramble when talking about IU and Indiana in general.  An excited type of ramble.  Like a "I want this to happen" ramble.

I have to watch Teen Mom, Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2.  However the one I have to watch that reminds me of our situation is Love After Lockup.

I'm not supposed to tell anybody my wife watches those though, so if you could keep it a secret I'd appreciate it.

From this old fart's perspective, there could not be a better time to come to IU as a coach. Program is, and has been a dumpster fire for quite a while (some say decades), certainly for many years.

It appears we have a stable of talent on the roster, just not being developed at all. Armaan reportedly hired his own personal trainer during the lockdown  and over the summer to improve his shot. Appears to have worked. So a new coach wouldn't have to clean house, he may just need to focus more on player development and install an offense that doesn't dribble the logo off the ball on each possession, and a defense that understands that you it's possible to play defense before your man gets the ball.

And then there is the issue of rebuilding the IU culture. Fanbase, coaches, staff, the brand.

I'm not all that familiar with Stevens style of coaching, like many of you, but whoever we get, I think it's entirely possible to turn this team around in year 2 to be a contender again. My biggest concern with Stevens is,  if he's the right guy to rebuild the IU culture. Could be, I just don't have a sense of it.

Brad didn’t have to go on about IU and Indiana like he did. He wanted to talk about all of it. That was straight from the heart. If he’s truly thinking “I want this to happen”, then it’s a cinch. We all know Scott wants him. If Brad wants IU, it’s good as gold. Come on home Golden Boy!

If Stevens takes the challenge, first song played at Hoosier Hysteria?

ELO “Mr Blue Sky”

Nah. I would go with Mellencamp's Small Town...

No I cannot forget where it is that I come from
I cannot forget the people who love me
Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town
And people let me be just what I want to be
