In 2015, when we were on pins and needles waiting to see if Crean would be fired, Glass released a statement at 5 p.m. on a Friday saying Crean was staying. 
 
This was strategically done on a Friday evening, because Friday is "take out the trash" day in media terms. This is when media outlets publish stories that they don't really want to publish due to fear of public backlash, but they kind of have to, so they do it at a time when people are less likely to be checking the news. 
 
A press conference on a Monday most likely means Archie is done. 

Also. Given we are still doing zoom press conferences due to COVID, they really don’t need to give the press as much notification ahead of time since all they will need to do is click a zoom link.

If we were still having in person press conferences that head up time is needed for the press to make travel arrangements to IU.

Here is the thing. You issue a press release or statement if it’s status quo and Archie is staying.

You don’t hold a press conference unless you are making changes.

Yep. IU is great at the late Friday afternoon press release as Glass was walking out of the office.

I think people just know something needs to happen soon. Dolson wanted to talk to the trustees individually so there wouldn’t be leaks. Maybe that’s working.

Oh just a joke. So many times 10-15 years ago I remember word breaking of a press conference at 3pm. Alford was supposedly coming in with an all star coaching team. Something about black helicopters too lol.

Genuinely like this approach, which allows you to address individual concerns. So for example, one trustee is concerned about the finances, and you can go into detail about that, but another wants to talk in detail about candidates, so you do, and a third ...so on. I would pump the brakes on judging Dolson solely on this offseason, as those more in the know have detailed, his hands may be tied somewhat.

Yea... I really couldn't careless how our driver, swimming, baseball, softball etc is doing. Mens basketball should always be priority #1. If it's this good awful, then you are a failure as an AD. Plain and simple. Football being good is only good for the money. It sucking again won't matter because it's what everyone is used to. MENS BASKETBALL NEEDS TO BE GREAT.
