Crazier things have happened He won't be considered precisely for the reasons he was fired. Also, he wasn't acceptable to the higher-ups last time IU was looking for a coach. *Please note, no personal takes are included on Mr. Marshall in my response. thebigweave, HoosierDYT and lillurk 3

Jay Wright would beg to differ with the notion that a successful IU coaching hire has to have a P5 track record, but carry on all. The Big East was one of the best conferences in the country until it dissolved in 2013.

Ryno6284 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 I honestly don't care who it is, as long as they can get IU basketball back to where it should be! This sucks! Stuhoo, Bowhunter and taco corp 3

NashvilleHoosier Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Is Danny Hurley interesting? I haven't seen his name mentioned. First glance for me is probably a no. But a solid run at Rhode Island (yes, I know what conference they are in and that it's the same conference Dayton is in and that our current coach came from that conference). UConn, with Bouknight, looks like they could make a run.

lillurk Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 A couple weeks ago I assumed IU would scrape into the tournament and it would be enough to get Miller another year. Sounds like that still might happen, per @Chris007 and others in the know. I wonder if the collapse down the stretch here is enough to change the calculus, though. I’m glad it’s not my call.

Everything is relevant. Chris and others said that from the vantage point when they said it. Two lethargic losses later? That matters. Two more in the coming week? That will matter for sure.

I’ve been vocal that it’s time to move on but (as Stuhoo said elsewhere), making the tournament and winning a game or two would’ve made that look foolish this year. Dolson should’ve been praying for Arch to make the tourney for the obvious reasons but ALSO because it makes it obvious what to do: ride with him one more year unless a miracle happens this offseason, like Stevens and the Celts parting ways. Finishing poorly takes the cover away: it’s basically unanimous the program is DOA under Archie, even to the most ardent supporters. In sum: assuming IU misses the dance, I think you’ve gotta move on now rather than later. thebigweave, Stuhoo, Class of '66 Old Fart and 2 others 5

I would like to think that losing out and finishing below 500 overall, and way below 500 in the Big Ten would make the decision for Dolson fairly easy and obvious also.
