Devries would be a legitimate let down. He's not a big fish by any stretch.

I wouldn't be rushing out to get new gear, I know that.

Doesn’t have to be like this man. He’s immediately the best coach we’ve had in A WHILE.

Don’t let the winks and :) from this board affect your perception of a potential DeVries hire

Drake Basketball the five years immediately before Darian Devries:

  1. 15-16
  2. 9-22
  3. 7-24
  4. 7-24
  5. 17-17

Darian Devries at Drake:

  1. 24-10
  2. 20-15
  3. 26-5
  4. 25-11
  5. 27-8
  6. 28-7

---------------------------------------------------------------------

West Virginia Basketball the year before Darian Devries:

          9-23

West Virginia Basketball in Devries' first year:

          19-13

It's pretty similar to what Dusty May did with FAU minus the magical final 4 run

If Devries is the coach with the resources he would have at IU, our days of living on the bubble would be few and far between

I think I’m just going go for a walk, this coaching search has me nuts

....that reminds me of my now, 30 year old daughter...... When she was 3 years old and got frustrated with her mom and I she would say,..."You're driving me NERVOUS!" lol

Boy, how time flies.......

GO IU!

We do have a history of head coaches with the initials DD who previously were head coaches at West Virginia.

Our good friend, who of course led the team after the Kelvin Sampson fiasco, spent a week as the Mountaineers' head coach in 2007.

This does make me feel better about DeVries.  Ready to roll if he's the guy.

Plus his son got hurt and was out all year. Tough to lose a 20+ ppg player for the year

Solid

This begs the same question I posed yesterday regarding Archie vs McCollum … is this more or less solid than McCollums resume?   Devries has made the tourney 3 times and don’t think he’s won a tourney game.  McCollum obviously DOMINATED D2.

I can see the argument for both sides. So basically a Rabjohns response.

Nobody has to start begging for DeVries or Collins or whomever but please note that the folks ‘round here who are plugged in, watch a lot of hoops, and will dig deep on a candidate pretty much universally agree they make sense and are good coaches.

I think it’s totally fair to criticize but please bring something substantive, not just grumbling about how famous someone isn’t.

I’m concerned he has the same initials as Dan Dakich

If you bought into the hype that IU was going to hire Brad Stevens or Jay Wright or any other established “big fish”….that’s on you. Kentucky and Louisville told you this was going to be the case. It was never going to happen no matter how many different gifs and encrypted messages were sent by a select few posters.
