I think that was New Mexico. At least while he was at IU.

I believe he was very loosely connected with an opening at Arizona State when he was at Texas Tech.

Yep.  Rick Galles flew RMK in his private jet for talks in NM.

He Threatened to leave for New Mexico (he loved fishing and nature) so it was somewhat believable…. But really it was to humiliate the administration and let them know who actually ran the school.

that’s what created a 15 year revenge of the nerds plot where the administration actively wanted to de-emphasize basketball. They removed the bball team from the information packets etc. in the 90’s.

and then when IU was voted #1 party school in playboy around 2000 that’s when they really hammered down on Frats and basketball.

Harry Gonso’s ego played a role throughout this

One could've said the same thing about Calipari and Kentucky. Similar situations...fanbase getting angry, results haven't been as good recently. Fresh start needed.

Look how well that’s going.

BTW, did everyone see him tell his player to miss the free throw up 3 with just a couple of seconds left?  His answer was he sometimes does “unconventional “ things?  Whoa.

Unlikely he would go from one fishbowl to another. If kansas is going to run him off, why would he go to another school that would do the same if he didn't have consistent success?

If he was having the exact same season he is right now at Kansas in year 1 at IU. Indiana fans would be very happy and see it as a good first step towards raising the floor program IMO

Probably the only coach who could take your 5 and beat you with them. Dude doesn't care about stars or rankings, just recruits dogs who aren't afraid to compete.

Or throw potted plants at your head, or sell a bunch of weed on campus…

Well, they'd have plenty of free time since they don't have to bother with going to classes...

Agreed on that part. But he would probably want significantly less stress. Like oklahoma state.

Very unlikely...to the point there's no reason to even think about. Could possibly see a victory lap at his alma mater with Oklahoma State but even then I put the chances at slim to none. He's 62 with some pretty serious heart issues and has nothing left to prove.

That was unbelievable, did he forget the score and situation?  He thought being up 3 with 3 seconds left was better than being up 4?  Fortunately for him the player banked the free throw in and it didn't matter.

Most wins, best/historical gym, James Naismith...yeah Kansas is the epicenter of college basketball

....Besides, who on this board besides you, obviously, cares anyway!

....I'm not getting into a pi$$n contest with you over anything related to a school that I could care less about.

Yes, Phog Arena is considered of the top 5 in the nation. MSG, Rupp Arena are considered by most if not all ahead of Phog.

IMO ....the only mecca is Assembly Hall, which was credited as one in the list greats.

I'm done,....the end.

GO IU, beat Oregon!

Yet you took the time to respond and then challenge me?

To be fair, @AH1971 has a point here.  If you blindly asked me where the mecca of college basketball is, Kansas would be my first answer too.

Mecca is in the holy land. The basketball holy land is Indiana. Even Kansas’s most famous coach agreed. Mecca doesn’t cease being Mecca just because its biggest institution falls into disrepair through poor stewardship.

Now repent!
