Brownell is not at the top of my list by any means, but I don't understand the hate.

Clemson isn't an easy place to win and during his time there, he competed against some really good ACC teams. His win percentage at Clemson is similar to that of Rick Barnes and Brownell has been there much longer.

He is a good coach, you can't take that away from him and that is what we have sorely missed here the last 4 years.

If he has similar results as several of the last few coaches (Barnes, Purnell) i don't think it's actually that hard to win.

4 tournaments in 14 years is not good and does not indicate he's a good coach.

I agree whole heartily with you! And I see your side of things for sure. I want Woodson gone as much as everything else. Just the eternal pessimist in me at this point could see the waters getting even more muddied and crazier things have happened and IU basketball just seems so freaking cursed from the basketball gods! LOL

Oh, absolutely agree.

And the possibility (only the possiblity) of a Brownell hiring this morning does nothing to the help the mood either.

Brownell just doesn’t move the needle for Me. He’s done well the past couple years in a a god awful acc. Have to think he would barely be an option if he wasn’t from Indiana. The only advantage i can think of is he probably has a handful of good Indiana contacts.

Nowadays, the only requirements for the Indiana job is to have played for the program or have lived within one of the counties at some point in their life.

Surprised no one has mentioned Coach K coming out of retirement yet.

I also will add if this is as close to vest as most are assuming from Scott Dolson we’re hearing what he wants us to hear for now

I'm probably just being way too simple but I don't understand the smokescreen ideas all that much.

I get the benefit in the sense of, telling different people different info lets you see who may be leaking stuff.

But I don't think, particularly as we near the end of March, people are being told to suggest McCollum or Brownell as smokescreens.

I would just assume it's probably McCollum at this point and Brownell name being tagged to make it feel better for people.

Again I'm probably just being way too simple lol

I think Dolson is smarter than that — Brownell is notoriously on and off the hot seat at Clemson all the time. McCollum makes lots of sense to me for all the reasons we’ve discussed as nauseum.

Agreed - Huss, McCollum, Devries all make ton more sense then Brownell - plus SD is a bit of gambler and salesman/fund raiser imho  - much easier to sell young fresh up and comer then good 'ole reliable to donors.

So we're flying empty planes out to Clemson now just to act as a smokescreen?

Seems silly. I’d also be shocked if we Scott was that brazen about where he was going, etc.
