Sorry, I thought it was clear I was being a super condescending d!ck. Read that again dripping with thinly veiled contempt and you'll get my drift.

Sarcasm is my favorite morning breakfast.

thank you!

Only IU fans can follow a program that has 1 winning conference record in the last 9 years and somehow think their program can turn Stevens away from the NBA to come back and coach college or get Pearl to leave Auburn where he has the number 1 team in the county and the program rolling or get Drew away from Baylor where he won a national championship all because well IU is a sleeping giant with everything set up for a coach to succeed.  Different people have different views on where this program actually is at in its current position in college basketball

You're not wrong. However, I've never believed Pearl or Drew were ever leaving their current positions for this job. Doesn't take a "braketologist" or Jeff Goodman to understand the obvious. Regardless of the "chatter", Stevens was never a realistic option along with Drew or Pearl. But Chris Collins lol the man is steeped in average and seems as content as a pig in ****. Give me McCollum at that point

Chances are good that we're looking at a list of McDermott and McCollum with Beard as a kicker

Not sure why people think Iowa is going to snag some good coaches. Their NIL is in shambles. Boosters weren’t donating what they pledged so 1 guy has had to foot the bill for like the last several months to ensure the players get what is contractually obligated to them. A top coach isn’t going to Iowa.

I tend to agree but McCollum has been outspoken that he considers Iowa “God’s country” and he’s from there. So is DeVries but I don’t see him leaving WVU. Ben waited for “the right” D1 job to open up and that was Drake. Does he want to move on after just a year? Who knows. Maybe he doesn’t want Iowa and is fine with Drake until the right P5 opportunity comes along. Then we just have to hope he chooses Indiana over Virginia.

Nobody wanted or probably heard of McCasland at North Texas when I was talking about him years ago however now he is one of the top young coaches in the game that is probably going to be the next Texas coach.  Nobody wanted Underwood and SF Austin way back in the day before he went to Oklahoma st and definitely nobody thought he would turn out being the home run hire he turned out to be for Illinois.

I’ve liked Underwood since those SFA days. I was helping out my close friends team and we used to always ask each other if we saw them the night before if they happened to pop up on ESPN3 or whatever. McCasland I picked up on from you guys. 350 teams and it’s about impossible to keep track of them all for the average fan.

But that is exactly what I would expect our AD to be doing. Each and every year. But that pretty much gets at what’s wrong with IU basketball: our administration and surrounding support doesn’t know jack **** about basketball. That’s tough considering how much our fans love basketball. We’ll see what Dolson is made of, I guess.

Would be a D1 death sentence for him, imo. If you read between the lines on why Bennett left, I don’t see any way a coach like McCollum could over come that lack of NIL.

Part of me agrees with that. The other part of me wonders if he might not prefer that environment. I don’t think UVA expects 5 stars and instant results the same way IU fans do. I could see him opting to go to a place where, in the ACC, he can win a lot with under recruited guys he identifies and gets them to buy in to what the he/the university is selling, not just the large checks. Large checks definitely help though. He may be a Midwest guy through and through and totally out on UVA. Interesting fit for sure there.

Davis did it with a team that he didn’t build. Dusty recruited and built his FF team.

Not sure if this is satire or not, but Dusty May the videographer didn't recruit or build anything for Mike Davis. Mike Davis the assistant for Knight recruited a bunch of those kids that played in the national title game, primarily Jeff Newton, AJ Moye, and Donald Perry given his ties to the south.

Let's not try and rewrite history here.

Edit: completely read that wrong

He is saying that Dusty May built his final four team at FAU.

The longer the uncertainty or quietness goes on, the more I am inclined to think the next coach will be someone like McCollum or Wade.  McCollum has dominated (yes at D2 level and only 1 year at Drake) but man it's been an impressive run.  Wade, while he had issues with level 1 violations at LSU, the sport has changed drastically since those issues took place.  I think given the resources and open check book that IU has, either one would thrive here at IU.

Probably best case at this point, one of those two…
