I honestly don't think we are recruiting anyone in the portal at this time.

Yikes! Major whiff by the staff to address needs. We need Banks and Gunn to make some very unrealistic jumps, in order to be competitive next season. I’m not optimistic. Bummed.

Phillips gone as in in going to the draft or gone as in transfer?  Because I’ve seen him projected to be very late second round.  I think he wanted to be a one and done but his freshman year didn’t go as well as he hoped.

"I think" 100% an opinion/ how could it work if not?

We do know that since Chris’ post IU has contacted CJ Frederick, so I don’t think that the staff has decided to stop with the portal.

I’m not sure what you are asking.  All I am saying is that coming into college that I believe Phillips’ goal was to play one season at UT and then turn pro — he’s currently going into the NBA draft but keeping eligibility open and from what the mocks are saying he likely is not going to hear encouraging feedback.

if you are asking how UT’s scholarship numbers and how it would work out if Phillips and more decide not to stay in the draft, that could be an issue that UT has decided to deal with later ic it occurs.  I don’t know.  My question about Phillips was whether the posted thought phillips would stay in the draft or perhaps enter the portal.

Contacted doesn't mean much though.  They contacted Knecht and couldn't even get him on campus before he committed to a place with a scholarship crunch.  He can shoot if he can stay healthy.

They've got time but it's okay to be a bit concerned.

This is not a knock on Chris, but him not being aware of any current portal activity by IU does not equate to there being none.
Yes! We are going to add players before the start of next season. The question is will they be quality players? I am on board with being patient. A bad player that doesn't address our needs is ad bad as no player so be patient. Imo the only way to be competitive is to get a few more quality players and I believe staff believes this ad well

I like Barnes a lot as a program stabilizer, though of course the offensive style and tournament failures are clear issues. But for a hopeful one-and-done below the “can’t fail” range he’s not who I’d recommend.

That wasn't really my point.  I was just saying if they are still contacting players that they haven't reached the conclusion that they aren't going to stop looking at the portal this year.  Nothing more, nothing less.

In terms of being concerned/not concerned/ambivalent, everyone is obviously free to be whatever they feel they want to be.

It seems like this portal thread has only had a handful of names that keep getting used and most posters keep recycling them. Then when they don’t commit to us all hells breaking loose! LCS has thrown some curveball names, which I appreciate!  Let’s get some new names mentioned and discuss possible fits within the program!  Look forward, not in the rear view, fellow Hoosier fans!

Yes, he is 25-26 in the NCAA tournament in his career.  If you look at his track record prior to getting hired at Texas, I'm not sure how he landed the Texas job.  But he has put together some good teams and getting fired at Texas after 17 seasons is actually a positive because Texas loves to move on from coaches.  Kudos to him for landing Ledlum and Knecht.

How about Lamar Washington from Texas Tech?

Not sure I see anything he would bring that Cupps wouldn't already bring.  Think I'd probably just stick with X / Galloway / Cupps getting minutes at guard and hoping for Gunn to improve.
