RaceToTheTop Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Marcus Dumask (Southern Illinois) committed to Illinois. Decent pick up. First team All-MVC last year. Averaged 16.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.8 apg. 6'6" small forward. On3 lists him as the 77th best portal player. 247 hasn't rated him yet (they seem to miss some of the portal guys) but describe him as a very skilled offensive player but limited athlete. Good passer and cutter. Said he was a lot like Sam Griesel but better three point shooter (35% from three last year for Dumask). Quote

Ware was following a few guys like X and Trey but then followed a lot more (managers etc) and then committed. Ledlum was following a few but in last hour just added a ton more IU guys like Hulls, more players etc. he is going to commit soon. No other players or other teams being added. Knecht just started following X, Cupps and Trey but also a couple Oregon guys. Have to assume this at least means a visit is coming. I still say Deloach is more than 80% based on his social media. Will see if he backs away but he has known about Ware and started following him a few days ago. Take it for what’s it’s worth. Not much haha Ledlum just started following everyone this hour? To me that is compelling circumstantial evidence. ALASKA HOOSIER, NVFalcons1990, Henryville Hoosier and 5 others 8 Quote

Former 5 star Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk Certainly played well enough that someone will look to bring him in and start him. In Texas' rotation, averaged 4.6 ppg in 11 mpg. Shot 41/33/79. The 41% number is higher than it looks because over half of his shots were threes. Shot 51% inside the arc. lillurk 1 Quote

This height and length is something I haven't seen on an Indiana team in my time following the program, I don't think (loosely in the DJ White era and more closely in the Zeller/Dipo era). XJ - 6'3 TG - 6'4 Ledlum - 6'6 Reneau - 6'9 Ware - 7' Could add Knecht and Banks and CJ Gunn, three more 6'6 guys. If we play the perimeter-centric offense many anticipate Woody prefers next season, I wouldn't be surprised if our rebounding is actually improved a bit. More threes/perimeter shots could lead to longer rebounds and if we're active without the ball could see us getting our fair share of second chance opportunities. I think/hope Reneau takes a big jump next year on his rebounding numbers. I think people should put away their expectations of a perimeter oriented 4-out offense. With that said, if Ware works out and Reneau improves (which I expect), that is a pretty talented front court. Home Jersey, Ngw7183, GoIU8 and 1 other 4 Quote

Ware and Reneau are traditionally sized bigs, but they both showed enough last year that I expect with normal year-to-year improvement, opponents won’t be able to leave them alone all the way out to the three point line. Pair that open court with some dudes who can get in the lane — say X, Trey, Ledlum, Knecht — and ooohhh baby they’ll be tough to guard. ALASKA HOOSIER, BGleas, thebigweave and 5 others 8 Quote

Ware is a modern big, not a post-up inside big. He's going to be out on the perimeter in the PnR game opening space for our ball handlers to get to the rim. His inside game is basically catching lobs off the PnR and crashing the boards for putbacks off of missed layups, etc. Muskie for three, thebigweave, jonz44 and 8 others 11 Quote

One of the things that has made me so pro-Coach Mike Woodson from the start: he could be a trusted assistant on an nba playoff team right now; he could be enjoying retirement. He’s at IU because it’s a dream. Like Trayce, he’s one of the best Hoosiers to fall short of a final four. He’s got an NBA championship ring and he wants some more jewelry.
