Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Portal trivia -- 1,508 players have tested the market since the start of the season, 31 have withdrawn and 455 have now found a new landing spot. 296 of the transfers on the transfer list have transferred at least once before. 123 of those qualify as grad transfers. Of the roughly 1,000 players still available in the transfer portal, 529 of those averaged less than 3.0 PPG or did not register any statistics this past season. Of the roughly 1,000 players still available in the transfer portal, 529 of those averaged less than 3.0 PPG or did not register any statistics this past season. The truth is that I am sure that quite a few of those 529 that averaged less than 3 ppg -- especially those that did not register any stats -- would be deciding to simply give up basketball as a pursuit or were basically being told that they weren't going to really have a spot on the team next year, especially those at the lower D1 level. By putting their name into the portal, they may find that they are wanted elsewhere, but if they aren't, they haven't lost anything.....because their plan was to move on from basketball anyway. Quite a few of the lower end guys in the portal are walkons. IMO, if you weren't a scholarship player you shouldn't have to put your name in the portal to move on to somewhere else. EDIT: SI article below -- says that about 1/3 of all players in the football and basketball transfer portal are walkons. https://www.si.com/college/2021/04/14/ncaa-transfers-rule-change-football-basketball thebigweave and go iu bb 2 Quote
ap2345 Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Anyone else hearing anything about Max Christie being interested in transferring to IU because he is dating Sydney Parrish? Supposedly MSU boards are talking about it. Quote

FYI: There is a MSU Premium board post from 10:07 last night titled "Max Christie will not be entering the portal - NBA or MSU for him" WayneFleekHoosier, ap2345, HoosierCoop and 1 other 4 Quote

May 1st has to be in the portal to be eligible. Lots of chatter on Peegs about it but I haven't heard it from anyone reliable which means he could be true. :-) IUc2016, HoosierCoop, MemphisHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

Not sure if that meant 85% going pro.. or what Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Seems a bit farfetched to me. Eugene, OR and East Lansing, MI puts a whole new meaning into long-distance romance. But after we Zoom in on this further maybe we can put some more mileage into the rumor. woodenshoemanHoosierfan and bird4par 1 1 Quote

Portal transfer can take place without sitting after May 1st, as long as the player is in the portal by May1st. NBA declaration is by mid/late June I believe. Quote

Just to be clear, I never said that girls can't play the same game that guys do. I have daughters and granddaughters so I know a little about how this works. I never knew if I was supposed to protect the girls from the guys or the guys from the girls. Quote
