NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

Really only a couple potential departures possible if we assume those who already went portal and came back aren’t going. I could imagine some players who got passed by Bates immediately would also be candidates.

Hi, Chris. Quick question, and one I’ve been wondering about for some time. If you had to choose a personal favorite IU basketball player, then would Trey Galloway come to mind?

Haha. He’s my personal favorite even though at almost 45 years old I can shoot better than him, but I think his shot is fixable but I’m not sure others who are more important than me agree on that.

The one I was told to make room for Brooks was never in the portal.

Bingo-hence no announcement on social media of “I’m coming back.” Which is the point I made earlier.

That’s too bad if it is in fact Galloway being nudged out the door to make room. He chose IU before anyone else in his class, then wanted to stay regardless of the coaching change. Plus, I think he’s a workhorse and a true teammate who will do whatever it takes to help the team win (even a lot of dirty work). And, he’s a coach’s son with a good basketball IQ.

I really like Trey too. I was hoping he would figure his shot out at some point and become a leader as an upperclassmen and someone who has an input allover the boxscore.

Brooks has incredible upside and is a potential player who can have a long career in the NBA. To think otherwise is naive. For those that are saying he isn’t that good...what makes you think he can’t improve? Do you not trust CMW to improve his game and possibly help Brooks reach his full potential like so many other NBA players he’s done? I know, I do. Brooks is another weapon with huge upside. I’m taking him.

I was hoping for Hunter or Race if we have to lose someone but hopefully I’m getting bad info. I’m not even a Brooks fan.

The couple of times I saw Brooks in high school I was not that impressed with his game.

Not many are, I’m not sure what there is to like. You don’t grow up in Indiana, have the whole state pushing for you to go to IU and choose our slimy rival only to ride the pine and then say “wait, I changed my mind”. Never going to be a fan.

I’ll take Galloway all day

Brooks is a good fit, to be sure. I will say, though...

Race Thompson, IU career: 6/28 on 3s
Keion Brooks Jr., this season: 6/28 on 3s.

Brooks was slightly better as a frosh, 5/19.

Guys expand their jumper, not saying this is destiny for either player. Just look at Brook Lopez’s career, or Kenny Goins at MSU.

I watched a fair amount of UK games last season. Rooting for them to lose was a little ray of light in an otherwise sad season.

Let me tell you my thoughts on Keion Brooks:

He’s got a solid outside shooting form that’s not that far off. It can be a useful stroke. Waaay better looking than X Johnson or someone like Galloway. Kinda like Race-lousy results but looks like it could get there.

He’s a badass offensive rebounder.

He gets lost on the defensive end way way too much.

He’s an extremely unselfish player.

He plays with passion—an incredible motor.

He was the only kid on that suck @$$ team that attempted to lead—even when he was injured and the team was losing he was the only one that would meet the media. More than Calipari was willing to. He’s intelligent, classy, and personable.

Summary? He’d be an incredible get. If Woodson was our coach a few years ago he’d have already been a Hoosier, and a very popular one.

Well said and accurate.
