Hornsby Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 None of the guys we are looking at are pure shooters. We were terrible at 3’s last year because Romeo and Juwan. They were 2 of the worst % 3 pt shooters. Romeo has the highest attempts of 3’s and Juwan was 4th in attempts. Those two killed our % as a team. The wrong guys were taking the open shots. If the 3 above were taking the shots, it’s a different story. Durham wasn't much better. I saw him miss your straight great looks one game. Anderson was 27%. He just didn’t look comfortable out there. Most players improve the most between their freshman and sophomore seasons, so we shall see what happens. thebigweave 1 Quote

All I am saying is bringing in a pure shooter would be nice so we don't have to hope they get better. Not so worried on Al Anderson is just a big ? right now.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

I hope everyone realizes we aren’t recruiting any pure shooters. Lester Quinones was only a 30% 3pt shooter in AAU last season, attempts in the 50’s. I think Archie see’s that he has several capable 3pt shooters and realizes the youth issue we had last season. He is looking at player development over recruiting a specialist who probably won’t be ready as a freshman anyway. Player development is hope. It should be expected on a yearly basis. Especially when in our biggest game of the year we are starting 4 freshmen and sophomores. lillurk, HoosierAloha, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote

Elite shooters who are also ready to play as freshmen are usually elite prospects, so there aren't likely to be any still around in April. If we are going to get a knock down shooter, which I still think we need even if some guys improve, it's best to go with a grad transfer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk finky 1 Quote

He was worse than Phinisee and a much lower level. Could he be a good shooter in a couple of seasons? Absolutely. He isn’t that as a freshman. Quote

And regardless getting a guard in 19 was always more about 2020 once we missed on carton. Quote

Maybe he is just streaky like Green. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

Maybe something clicked and he has improved. Which makes me more optimistic about him. Quote

In those 14 combined games, he was 34 of 95 (36%) in summer league play. He was at 42% in the FIBA championship. So the 30% number just in AAU doesn't tell the full story of the summer. In terms of what he shot from three at IMG, I'm not finding it anywhere. Did find where he shot 50% overall from the field and 91% from the line. seihoosier Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Still think we’re gonna regret not recruiting Sean East. I’d rather have an Indiana boy with heart than some of these others we’ve gotten or missed on. Look at Ryan Cline at PU. It is what it is. Need a shooter, he’s a shooter. Need a back up PG, that he is. Need a slasher and finished, that he is. Time will tell. Schreckbagger, Leo, HinnyHoosier and 4 others 7 Quote
