Bailey7878 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I wanted Tony Bennett or Gregg Marshall as my top 2. I liked Holtmann more than Miller, but he wasn't a top choice for me. At worst someone that had actually proven themselves at a level higher than Dayton. Not that it matters now.I find it hard to imagine a mid major coach was the best iu could get. I really do Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk ElectricBoogaloo 1 Quote
Bailey7878 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I don’t have a problem with anyone going negative, fans are allowed to do that IMO. It’s been rough for sure but I’ll keep after it and hope the turnaround comes soon. Archie hasn’t just forgotten how to coach. Something isn’t right with the players tho, that’s for sure. I always point to the fact that MOST of this roster was brought in by Crean. At some point young people start to wonder about who or what they are playing for. It could be a bit of what’s happening. You beat NWestern and Michigan somehow this week and we are 14-6 and feeling better again. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersDelusional. cbp4iu Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I probably will get bashed for this but I wouldn’t mind if Archie “Creaned” a few players this off season. I rather Archie recruit as many players as possible at this point. I will be able to handle sucking year 3 with potential than handle seeing another 17-18 win season with the same people. I’m not going to list players who should be Creaned but the number should be atleast 4. Also if Race Thompson doesn’t play next year from injuries than I think Archie should kind of steer clear from him. I mean I don’t want to say rush a player back from a concussion... But he’s seems fine on the bench laughing and celebrating during timeouts. Quote
Bailey7878 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Anybody really think this team makes the tourney? I mean where are the wins coming from the remainder of this conference slate? No. NIT may even be tough to make. I could see us finishing 7-13 in the big ten if we continue to play like this.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote
HoosierRobbie Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Never thought I’d say it but, it would have been nice to have Chris Mack, impressive what he’s doing with that Louisville team.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Hillsdale87, Alford Bailey, HoosierTrav and 3 others 6 Quote
Honkyman Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 McRoberts makes a couple of hustle plays per game and those are great. But he can't shoot and his defense isn't great either. He should be coming off the bench and playing 10 minutes maximum. Quote

LamarCheeks Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I know patience isn't necessarily our virtue (I know it isn't mine), especially since we've been pretty mediocre for most of this century, but here's a reminder ... At Virginia, Tony Bennett went 15-16 and 16-15 in his first two years. He's averaged 26 wins a season in the seven years since. They're 16-0 now. theriverpilot and Hillsdale87 2 Quote

I get the many posts touting that Bennett, Coach K and Beilein had slow starts and became great coaches. I’m also sure, however, that there have been a ton of coaches that started out poorly and remained poor. Hope we have the former, rather than the latter, but at this point who knows? AKHoosier Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Just look at the Purdue roster, and honestly there's no one on it other than Edwards who's better than any of our starters. And Edwards isn't even that great. Our best player is Morgan, who I love, but he's clearly peaked and was a 3* for a reason. It's not his fault there isn't much around him, and he was never meant to be the primary scorer on a good team. Alford Bailey 1 Quote

How does a team not get pumped for the Purdue game? Archie better be fixing something or he’ll be shown the door sooner than later. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Came ot flat (again). Langford got two fouls and sat. We came back and had the lead toward the end of the first half, but let them get a 7 point lead going into halftime. Started the second half poorly and were soon down by 14 points. We didn't challenge the rest of the way. Quote

Yeah, I tried that one after the Nebraska game, along with Beilein, Wright and Barnes. Fan frustration defies the “it takes time” argument. And frankly, getting whacked at Mackey makes it tough.
