yogisballin Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I punched the coffee table last night when RoJo didn’t go down for that loose ball because he wasn’t looking. JSHoosier Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I'll take the W. I really don't get what some see in Green. Guy has a hamster wheel between his ears and half the time the hamster is asleep. The simplest things with him are an adventure, heck he nearly lost the ball just trying to switch hands with the dribble and didn't even have a defender nearby. At about the 10 to go mark he got the ball on the left wing, I'm literally saying don't shoot it at the TV (would've looked stupid of someone was around) and he shot it despite being pretty well contested. Later in the game we were in transition but Maryland had numbers, I'm saying don't force it and he of course forced the issue. Sorry, he's just not that good. GloryDays Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Feel you on that. I watched the 1st half in Plainfield with a fraternity brother, then hauled tail home to Terre Haute, only to find a power surge bricked my Xbox One, and other components, so I missed the 2nd half. Sounds like Morgan took this on his shoulders. Hang in. Better days around the corner for you and the Hoosiers.Sent from my LGL41C using BtownBanners mobile app pappy1865 1 Quote

Aaron Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Most fun game I have been at this year we won and best atmosphere in a while by far. We can talk about some empty seats but everyone who was there created a vintage Assembly Hall feeling late that pushed team over the top. If we can somehow hang in the next 2 games we should have even better atmospheres. Huge props to Morgan to play through the pain and he must be sore today. Guy is a warrior. Interestingly he looked really ginger in warm ups and clearly for first few minutes of game was not himself then just took off as he got more comfortable. I went on Maryland's message board and they are about as big of fans of Turgeon as we are of Crean. I thought Turgeon did make one terrible mistake last night that their fans should of been all over. He called a timeout with 7 minutes left when we had scored one basket to take a 2 point lead that was completely unnecessary and place was not that loud at that moment. He really needed that extra timeout in last minute when game was close and place was lit and super loud. He also called good timeouts early, when we scored late to take the lead back at 64-62 late and in last 30 seconds to draw up a play but he really could of used the one he wasted with 7 minutes left in last minute. Got to be careful with those on the road when timeouts are like gold. Overall great win and seems this team is coming together! Iugradman, thebigweave and Str8Hoosiers 3 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 So my takeways Team is getting better defensively but the offense has taken a step back since Davis went down. Overall defense is more important so this is a net gain but if we are gonna take a real step forward next year we need to figure how to play defense with Davis on the court IUsafety, IUBBFan1970, ALASKA HOOSIER and 2 others 5 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Worst play of the night candidate. Newkirk directly passing it to the guy guarding him in crunch time. So lucky that didn't cost us the game. Just a lazy, lazy play. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners yogisballin, Brass Cannon, HoosierAloha and 1 other 4 Quote

Like the defender is going to go through the motions and allow you to pass where you intend to pass or dribble where you intend to dribble. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
Trish Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Happy for Archie and the boys for getting this victory. I love watching Archie coach these kids. He may not have the most talented players but he's already surpassed Crean imo. Hoosierfan2017, southsidehoosier, Hutch89 and 3 others 6 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I love watching Archie's reactions when the camera zooms in on him. - Durham coming out after making two boneheaded plays "What are you doing?!" - Refs stopping play because of the fan in the first row "What's the problem?" He doesn't sugarcoat things and clap his @$$ off. He shoots it straight and I believe the players are buying in more. Loved hearing Morgan in the interview after the game. He said something along the lines of "coach told us we got punked by Michigan State and not to get punked." Simple messages seem to get through. Whodda thunk it. Green makes some really frustrating plays that disrupts the momentum. However, I believe they both have a place moving forward. I actually saw Green slow the pace down late in the game to run some clock. He's a product of "ignore turnovers and just run faster." If Archie can reign his NY street ball ways in a little I think there is a good, solid contributor, in there. Durham needs to find his niche as a lockdown defender and opportune scorer. In a properly constructed team that would be the role he would be playing this season. However, on a team that lacks scoring, leadership, and decision making he sticks out like a sore thumb. He is the type of guard I want Archie to take a chance on in every other or every third class. Come in and make an impact on defense, add a few things each offseason, and become a leader as a upperclassman. thebigweave, Ranger78, pumpfake and 7 others 10 Quote

Thankfully, he hustles back to prevent the layup. It's maddening to see a guard, let alone a 5th year senior, make these elementary mistakes game after game. johnsoniu and Iugradman 2 Quote
