Cig presser updates: Kamara and Sarratt will start vs. Purdue. "Will know more after today" on Evans. That was it on injury updates.

  8. I doubt the crowd is quiet. It’s the first game of the mini series. That packs usually doesn’t have a decent non conference game, but when it does the crowd is usually pretty good.

Talked to my son and grandson today. Caleb's next surgery is December 1. He has 6 knee ligaments in play. ACL and MPFL ligaments are torn through and will require complete reconstruction. MCL and PCL were torn to some extent in the original evaluation, and depending if/how they've progress may require attention. The LCL was sprained or strained and will require inspection and possible treatment and the transverse ligament will require evaluation and possible work. Additionally, the femur looks to be healed, though we're still waiting on confirmation about the growth plate. The tibia micro fractures looked good on recent x-rays. They will also have to evaluate the condition of the various menisci and take any necessary repairs on them. Of course to repair/reconstruct these ligaments will require harvesting ligaments and tissue from other areas of his body - possibly the hamstring and quads. All in all, he's looking at a major reconstruction of his knee and a pretty formidable recovery. Because of the amount of work to be done, the doctor is unclear as to whether he can do the job in a single surgery or if it will require multiple surgeries. Please keep him in your prayers. His spirits are up and he's more than willing to tackle the recovery. He's a tough kid, but unfortunately, this happening at the start of his junior year in HS pretty much means the end of his football career, and puts his baseball future in jeopardy.

Sadly, we only play Rutger once this season, because they are really bad at basketball.

If Chesney moves up JMU seems too obvious not to happen.

  14. This one is stacking up to be a lot better resume builder than anticipated. Can't wait to watch this one leading into a nice holiday break from the dental grind. I hope despite the Thanksgiving break we can get a good enough crowd to make an impact. This one is big.

  15. RUTGER CALLS TIMEOUT TO SET UP A LAST SHOT!! There are 30 seconds left in the first half. Rutger is losing 54-30. Not sure if Pikell is gonna make it throught he whole season at this rate.

  16. Today from DDV. Darian DeVries on if he has any updates on Jason Drake and Aleksa Ristic on the injury front. "Not really ... They're getting better, starting to do more things within practice." DeVries says there is no clear return timeline for Ristic, Drake and Harris. Says they are all progressing and doing more in practice. Asked Darian DeVries about the growth of & plan for Andrej Acimovic, who still hasn’t played this season. DeVries said Acimovic has made strides, but the plan — redshirt, play, etc. — is still “up in the air.” OF NOTE: From what I read before the season started sounded like the goal was a redshirt for Acimovic.

  22. Is it bad or the new normal that I have no idea who any of these guys are? The apathy of the last few years and constant roster turnover have not incentivized getting familiar with anyone until it’s proven to be worth the effort by the team’s performance (although I’m encouraged so far!).

  23. I get he has a relationship with Franklin but there he will be lucky to win a bowl game. Here he could win a NC. And that is so weird to say about IU football

Feast week is here with games starting at 11 and the last tipping off at midnight. My 3rd favorite week on the college basketball schedule. Players Era tourney has taken over as the best MTE during this week. Each of teams gets 1 mil for participating and then the winner will get 2 mil on top of that while 2,3 and 4th will get extra. the fields for Maui and battle for Atlantis because of this. Hopefully this won’t eliminate those tourneys but hard for teams to turn down 1 mil nil money just to participate. Hopefully IU gets in that tourney moving forward. Next year they are adding more teams

  27. I can’t see us keeping Haines. I’d love to be wrong, but somebody’s gotta see the vision right? Then that really becomes a disaster if we somehow were to lose Haines AND Kuntz. Or a guy like Bostad. I have no reason to believe those position coaches are looking to move for something other than a clear promotion, but this is such a high quality staff anyone leaving will hurt.

  30. Creighton has cut Baylors lead to 1 with 13 to go. Really good game. I’ve said it before but love the fact TNT and Tru TV are doing regular season games this year instead of just the ncaa tourney.

Justin Wilcox out at Cal. Given what a lousy situation Cal’s in I really don’t understand what their expectations are. Seems to me the guy did pretty well. I really don’t know who’s gonna want that job who’ll be an upgrade.

  37. Ristic played well in Puerto Rico. Getting him back, another point/on ball guard, should help. No leaked reports that I’ve heard but you’d think he be close given the amount of time. all we know is it’s an undisclosed foot injury

  41. Just saying… Odum making one snarky remark six months ago is the kind of motivation that might not even help a sh!tty team, nevermind be relevant to an outstanding team. I’m pretty sure that Walters played the “Purdue sucks” Cig clip before last year’s game, and you can see how much that helped them. All this IU team needs to play extremely well is a game plan and really hard work preparing. And they do that every time.

  42. A whole extra week for Cig to sit in his office and grind tape while stewing over the dumb s**t Odom said about our schedule. I’d consider feeling sorry for their fans having to sit around that cow pasture and suffer through watching their beloved goat humping football team get dog walked, but there’s going to be 30-40,000 Indiana fans in their seats. We’re about to cap off an undefeated motherfrickin’ season in Ross Ade Stadium. That genuinely might be better than doing it in Bloomington. If you really want to get demented, now imagine Indiana Football winning a national title before Purdue Basketball. I need new shorts.

I’ve got something pretty excellent for you guys. Someone just posted a YouTube video from inside Happy Valley Stadium and about 40 rows up during the catch and the subsequent review. The up to now unseen camera screenshots: First; the Hoosier staff and players gather as the replay official analyzes at the review camera: Next, the head official walks away from the camera to announce and the other official walks over to tell Cig: AND FINALLY… Cig finds out the news from the secondary official before any crowd announcement is made or any of us know for sure. Look at Curt Cignetti’s reaction—coach got hops!:
