  1. Archie Miller's first game here was a blowout loss to Indiana State. Mike Woodson's first game went down to the wire with Eastern Michigan. Darian DeVries got to watch his son score his 2,000th point in a game that was over after about 5 minutes.

  2. https://x.com/indianahq/status/1986261472649887869?s=46 shot didn’t go in but it should of because of the ball moving like it did. Ball keeps moving like that and IU fans will be happy.

  3. A few things I saw last night that I haven't seen in a long time, and not even sure are legal. Back cuts Made free throws. (Got rid of Cliff :-) Sharing the basketball and great passes Shooting 3's and not giving up 3's. Just very fun to watch and can't wait till Sunday.

  4. Hey, I don’t wanna get premature about this, but I think Coach DD home opener is much better than Archie Miller’s.

  10. Tucker goes over 2,000 pts. for his career and records a double double with 18p and 11r We shoot 16-16 on FTs We shoot 24 3s and make 10. We have 23 assists on 36 made shots. We curb stomp a team we're supposed to curb stomp. It's a good night to be a Hoosier.

  19. It actually does mean something now though. Don't take care of business, and by business I mean drill the teams you're supposed to and play well against the others and you move up and solidify yourself ie exactly what Woody and Archie never did, so we were always scratching and crawling to get into the tournament. Some teams that didn't look so great dropped considerably after one game: UCLA 12 to 20 MSU 25 to 34 OSU 27 to 36 PSU 95 to 103 It's important to blow out these lower teams and hang with highly ranked teams. Kenpom is normally the best indicator of who's in, and who's got work to do.

  20. Having a real bison would confuse too many Purdue students thinking it was another coed. Different topic. Not at all a fan of the new floor

  21. I really like Tucker's attitude....I thought he got clobbered, no arguing with the refs, just get off the floor and run down the court on defense!

  22. I had more joy in watching that first half then I had the entire season last year.I know we'll take jumps with the lack of size but it's been a long time since I saw an IU team play such cohesive and efective defense and not to mention two snipers outside. Go Hoosiers.

  23. Almost as impressive as our 3pt and free throw shooting, is that we only gave up 4 3pt attempts and zero makes. We're no longer getting crushed from 3 by a low-major.

  25. Well, that was fun to watch a person taking it down the last second and getting a good shot and scoring crazy.

  26. When is the last time we have seen a play like that??????? I love this!!!! Wilkerson is a shooter for sure

  27. Saw it pointed out that DDV is the first one out of the locker room before tipoff followed by the assistants then the team. Unlike Woody who would be the last one out almost immediately before tipoff. DDV also is on the court watching the pre-game warmups.

  29. Man, can’t believe I am missing out on being in the Hall on opening night. Between catching the flu, being an unpaid federal employee, and my wife in the hospital since Monday, I guess I can take comfort that I can watch with her at home tonight. Go Hoosiers! PS: until the Gov opens back up, I will have tickets to several games available. PM me if interested.

  30. Cody Zeller very active on X tonight. Indiana basketball is back! We are all still getting used to this new world of NIL, transfer portal, 5+ years of college eligibility….BUT I think Hoosier fans are going to like the new roster and playing style. We’ll play fast, shoot a lot of 3s, and hopefully a bunch of wins! Trent Sisley #11 Indiana kid! And a future fan favorite! Trent has great size for a small forward. He will make an open 3, finish around the rim, dive on the floor, and play with toughness. Expect him to fill the stat sheet and the team will play well when he’s on the court! Tucker DeVries #12 Coach’s son and our best player. Tucker has experience, great basketball IQ, and a knock down 3 point shooter. Expect him to be a calming presence in big games, shooting/making shots in clutch situations, and he’ll lead our team throughout the season. Reed Bailey #1 Reed and his size will be important for our group! He has good mobility and handles it well for a center. High motor! Expect to see him initiating the offense from the top of the key with dribble hand offs or attacking his defender with a drive and spin. Lamar Wilkerson #3 SHOOTER!!!! Last season Wilkerson averaged 21 PPG on 45% from 3. He’ll shoot from deep, in transition, and has a quick trigger! Expect him to have some big games and put up a lot of points. He is what the Hoosiers have been missing in previous years! Tayton Conerway #6 Conerway will run the show for our offense. He plays with confidence, handles well in the pick and roll, and he’s crafty passing and finishing around the rim. He can really score, but he’ll help our shooters with his downhill drives and passing ability. Conor Enright #5 Toughness! Conor is a senior with a lot of experience including 3 years with Coach DeVries at Drake. Good passer! He’ll play hard every night with energy and purpose.

  32. I’m ready for that first string of 3-5 straight deep balls from Tucker and Lamar that causes AH to absolutely melt down in a big game. They even got a pretty good pop at one point last night.

  40. I am so out of touch with this whole new team. Hoping that they do good things and we have a great season. This new world where they teams change dramatically every year is gonna take some getting used to, but ready for INDIANA BASKETBALL!

  41. One thing I love about this year’s team so far is the camaraderie. The whole team has shown up for the last two IUWBB games, not only that, they sit together, they joke around, and they just seem to have fun and so care for one another. Sisley hanging next to Enright and Tucker too is awesome. They left yesterday at the start of the 4th quarter, except for Conerway and Wilkerson. Those two stayed the whole game. The first game those two were goofing and laughing a lot together and dancing too. The whole team was interacting also with the fans around them. Just great to see and great ambassadors of the program to start the season.

  43. Yes, AAM isn't good, but the play and intensity looked infinitely better than what we watched the last 8 years. Will we struggle against some higher teams? Probably, especially against teams with great interior play. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk
