  1. They are usually spenders. I would assume if we don’t get Allmond / Taylor our offer may rise some. I know I’m a broken record at this point but you’ve got to assume adidas wants him at IU. They should / need to help us out.

    2025 IUFB Season

The Wall St. Journal! The media coverage IU gets from being good at football is unprecedented for the school and program. Here is the link, it’s paywalled unfortunately, but here it is anyway: https://www.wsj.com/sports/football/fernando-mendoza-indiana-cal-2bd2445e

  5. I'm 78-years-old and I've been an Indiana fan for my whole life. Graduated from IU in1969. Youngest daughter was graduating class of 2000. Grandson, a high school sophomore, weighs 265 and growing and and wants to play for the Hoosiers. For the last year and a half iu has been on a streak and I, along with everyone else, have been chearing them on. But secretly, in the back of my mind, I've been saying to myself that this can't continue. After all we are only Indiana and Indiana sucks at football. At some point the bubble is going to burst and we are going to sink back to our rightful level. That is what years and years of losing does to you mentally. But guess what. These young men that put on the cream and crimson on Saturday don't think this is a bubble. They believe in themselves and their coach. They believe they can beat anyone. The doubt isn't there in their minds, like us old codgers. While across America the experts are looking for the bubble to burst Saturday, I don't think the the players are buying into that thinking. We can lose this game. But we can also win it. If IU is hungary and our recievers can get open we will win this game. Indiana 5 TDs = 35 Total 35 Oregon 3 TDs = 21 1 FG = 3 Total 24

  6. Imagine you’re right about a Thompson offer going up under those circumstances. Would also think a Diane offer would get really spicy. And, yeah, Adidas needs to start taking care of this program rather than continuing to treat it like East Bumphrey Nowhere State.

  8. Interesting factoid: Combined record of Oregon’s opponents is 11-16. Combined record of IUs is 17-10. Oregon has three wins against teams over .500: Montana St. (4-2), Northwestern (3-2), and Penn State (3-2). Of the 10 games those teams have won, 2 were from power conferences. NW beat UCLA and PSU beat Villanova. IU has 4 wins against teams over .500: ODU (4-1), Kennesaw St. (3-2), Illinois (5-1), and Iowa (3-2). Of the 15 games those teams have won, 5 were from power conferences. ODU beat Va. Tech, UI beat PU/Duke/USC, and Iowa beat Rutgers. Oregon has the star power on their roster but I think there’s a possibility IU may shock some people this weekend.

    Prayer Thread

Just talked to my grandson. He went to the doctor today and got great news. He is walking, was released to drive and his progress with recovery and therapy is "exceptional". The next surgery, to repair the ligaments, will be in early December. Just wanted to update you all, and thank you for your prayers.

  12. So essentially if IUFB makes the CFP Coach Cigs grosses $10M/yr. Great compensation considering the allocation of $ to retain top coordinators/position coaches. Though IU is likely 25-40 range in NIL budget, certainly IUFB is top 15 in coaching salaries when adding OC/DC.

  15. Per his IG story a couple hours ago it will be at 10am from his HS gym in Virginia EDIT: He is also now following Jalen Cannady the coach in charge of video analysis and player development. It’s most likely nothing but I like to think he put together compelling film for both AT and LA about how they can develop and play together. Again, probably nothing, but fun to note.

  23. It's freakin' awesome no doubt. I do recall IUFB getting some media coverage during the days of AT carrying the rock during his Heisman run. I don't know if it's all up in your face like it is today but we also didn't have access to the internet back in those days like we do today. Bottom line, coaching matters.

    2025 IUFB Season

Yea, well put, it's definitely fluid to some extent. Cody Campbell is the latest frisky donor. Word is he's got to pay a premium to get top kids to Lubbock -- not surprising. And he is doing that. And it seems to be working. Just for the heck of it, I made a list of top roster spend programs. This is a total eyeball/finger in the wind list, and there is no way it's actually right, but the point is how easy it is to list 20 programs that definitely spend big money (how they exactly rank who knows). Top Tier (3): Texas, Oregon, OSU Also Top Tier or Close to It (9): Michigan, Georgia, Miami, Alabama, TAMU, LSU, ND, Tennessee, TTU Second Tier, Still Big Spenders (9): Auburn, Florida, PSU, FSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Nebraska, USC, Clemson There's 21. CFB is so competitive. Then there are a ton of schools in some sort of third tier that still spend some pretty serious money, some examples are: Washington, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Carolina, Mizzou, etc. This is the tier I think IU is trying and starting to break into going into 2026. Anyways, spend this and spend that, IU is somehow competing with the big boys at the moment!

  27. Cool, you just spent 3 million or more on three roster spots that are unlikely to be starter level players in the big ten. So now are down 3/12 million with zero star caliber players. Money gonna go quick that way.

  28. I said top five. And even still, Mgbako (#10 was his best final ranking), was Big Ten freshman of the year with an absolutely awful system for his skill set. If you look through the last several years the majority of top 5 players in final recruiting rankings are high level college contributors from day one being overly judicious with the money is going to leave us in situations where the big prizes are gone and we are getting nickel and dimed by what is left, typically good but not great mid-major guys. You can probably win that way, but give me a headliner or two every year for my money.

  29. Tend to agree but from the outside adidas has always seemed to have a strangely zero sum view about these things. Obviously with individual recruits it is zero sum — Thompson can’t pick KU and IU — but other than when they play each other head-to-head it isn’t really true that Kansas and Indiana can’t both succeed at a high level. Conversely, Nike seems much better at supporting UNC and Duke, UM and MSU, so on.

  33. Sort of. Don’t think we were ever going to get both of them anyways. Allmond has a really good relationship with one of our assistant (Kenny) and equal relationship with one of OK states assistants. Maryland is dropping a load for him- which makes the relationships part sort of similar to the situation I described above. But more for OK state rather than us.

  34. The swim team isn't hurting for NIL. It's thought they're a big spender by someone who would have an idea. Competing for the #1 recruit in 2027. They're up against Cal (home team, historically good team who finished #2 last season) and Texas (historically good, have Bob Bowman as the coach, defending champions, lots of money) so they might not get him but don't count out IU who has landed more elite distance and mid-distance swimmers recently. https://swimswam.com/1-ranked-luka-mijatovic-done-with-ncaa-recruiting-visits-just-has-one-hard-decision-to-make/ Edit: a little more on the recruitment. https://swimswam.com/analyzing-each-of-luka-mijatovics-potential-ncaa-landing-spots/

  38. Around Black Friday last year I hopped on the Peacock deal of $19.99 for an entire year. I did it for a few basketball games but felt even better when some football was thrown in and my wife actually likes some of their shows. Like everyone else I’m getting tired of 50 different steaming options but $19 for a year has been a good deal.

I’m pretty sure that the 24 year-old hot girlfriend is a very temporary condition. Leaving the ultra high paying job in a cloud of sadness will probably accelerate the temporary nature of that condition.
