Maybe he’s a nice guy in his personal life (as long as you’re completely subservient to him), but the Mike Woodson we had the displeasure of experiencing the past four years is a petty, lazy, insecure narcissist.

I mean, is he really? Don't know him personally and I'm not saying he is a bad guy, but does a good guy surround himself with yes men and fire those that dare disagree? Does a good guy mock a large portion of the fan base? Does a good guy doing a half assed job proclaim himself "King of Indiana?" Does a good guy collect million yet refuse to go out and do his job on the recruiting trail? From afar he looks more like an entitled lazy @$$ with a fragile ego, not a horrible human, but far from a good guy.

It’s Torvik talent rating that has IU next to last in the B1G ……. and Penn St top 6 in the B1G. lol. People can doom and gloom all they want or they can pump pump pumpity that sunshine all they want but torvik posting a talent rating graphic isn’t going to make any difference. My guess is after the season starts that graphic won’t be seen again. Probably won’t be seen in another week again. im at the point where I don’t really give a crap one way or the other on the optics of the team or program. They will either be good or they won’t

Maybe it will be a disadvantage against other teams, but I relish the idea of having a team of basketballplayers over a team of athletes.

Pete Thamel - Kennesaw State QB Dexter Williams will be the starting quarterback and will debut against Wake Forest in the opener at Wake Forest on Aug. 29. He's a transfer from Georgia Southern and Indiana, where he spent 2020-23. Kennesaw plays at IU in Week 2.

I know some coaches can retool their new team quickly and compete at a high level in year 1. Dusty last year is everyone’s favorite example and that was legit. I don’t think we will be as successful in year 1 compared to Dusty but I think DD can deliver very good teams on a consistent basis. I liked Snow’s comment recently where he referred to IU as a beast when competing against them for a recruit. Even with Woody as coach Snow felt IU was very hard to beat for Indiana kids. I don’t think we need all Indiana kids to win but I think pairing DD with the Indiana strength will yield top 15 teams pretty consistently. I don’t know if he can get us to a championship but I do feel he can get us to Wisconsin level success. Maybe not this year but over the next decade. Will that be good enough Is the question.

Interestingly, the big boys that are successful mostly focus on high school and keeping those kids in their programs and developing them. They use the portal, but in more limited spots where they have a need. ‘26 is one of our better classes the past 15 years. Historically we might have one good class every 4-5 years with the rest being bad (like 50th+). I think Cig can keep getting classes around #30, which is quite good for us and with those kids he can keep us in the top-25 range with playoff hopes. But frankly, to level up much further we really need more NIL for football… like $10M more. At the end of the day better players cost more. Not sure where that $ comes from… need Scott to figure that out.

True but without Archie's stud recruit that was handed to Woodson on a silver platter I'm not sure he sees year 3. Would've been very interesting to know what Would've happened had TJD bolted right away.

One word, Buckner. He is about the only reason Woodson was hired, and he damaged not only his reputation but that of Woodson's also. It is mind boggling how and why he was hired, but I really doubt if the full story and reason will ever be revealed outside of what has already has been hashed out in almost 2k pages already. It was fascinating reading though.

Yep. Trying to appease fans without thinking about what matters. Winning. I don’t think Woody would have any different results no matter who were his assistants. He listened to who he wanted to listen to. Ultimately his system wasn’t a match for a successful college basketball program. Watching a huddle in-game was all the insight I needed to know how things went behind the scenes. I defended woody because I think at his core he’s a caring, good guy. The weight of the job and not being successful sent him searching for excuses, and in that he showed a side of himself that made me not want to defend him as a person. He and his PR slandered a many. Perhaps Fife is out of coaching partially because of how he has acted since being let go. Perhaps his brain was broken by what he saw behind closed doors and he's lashing out because he has been semi traumatized ever since. Lol The simple fact is, with very few notable exceptions (TJD, JHS, Ware), everything that Mike Woodson touched as IUBB HC turned to ****. Thankfully he is no longer here and our basketball program is better off because of that. I'm happy to look ahead and not behind, so we can start acting like the last 4 years never happened... except for the occasional joke about the fellas lounge, golfing, and ordering pizza instead of handling responsibilities. LoL

I cringe just to bring it up but did the 2021 Cincy game sell out this early? Also, I'm just going to say it, Illinois is not as good as everyone thinks. When you dive deep into what they 'accomplished' last year and what is returning, they have some major holes to fill. I could be wrong and eat crow. But looking at the numbers, on paper, our front 5 should be able to handle their DLs and they lost major production from their avg offense last year. Altmyer's 2024 numbers have some hidden production from elsewhere that are now rookies in the NFL or have transferred out. Sure they have a lot of returning starters but when you really look at who isn't on the roster from last year's team you start to see some really big question marks. Our run game will be the key to the game. Their game at Duke will tell us a lot as well.
