  4. This is his 2nd unofficial visit to IU. To spend their own money for not only a first but a second visit says something, I wouldn't be shocked to see him use an official visit and us be a top contender for this kid when it's all said and done.

  6. Things that make me smile: "Bates is a shot maker, the most essential tool in today’s game and Bates has it in spades. He played a vital role on this season’s IMG team as the best perimeter shooter, but also their best perimeter defender," Rivals' national analyst Jamie Shaw said. "It may be easy to pigeonhole Bates into the 3 & D moniker, and that is not a bad thing, but he has a little more shake to his game than that. Bates is good in transition and can knock down a 1-2 dribble pull up, but make no mistakes his offensive game is predicated on his deep range."

  7. Clowney at IU seems more than likely. Guess we have to just wait, but good things come for those that do:)

  8. Nobody "likes" the idea, it is just matter of making good decisions and IU already requires masks indoors so the precedent is there.

  9. I think we’d have to go to the SEC (2014 SEC East champs, baby!) or become a Service Academy (we do have the bow of a ship out front!) for that.

  10. And our run game against Cinci. We gotta get that figured out. A start to that would be keeping the defense guessing on run/pass. We haven’t been effective doing that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  11. Just saying very likely. Nothing in life is absolute! Closely listen and read Clowney's words about IU after visit AND the mother's too. LOVED IT!!!!!! Didn't hear much after FL or VA Tech. Says a lot! And he will see Alabama not a basketball school. We should all know in about 2/3 weeks based on his self-imposed timeline and put this issue to rest:)

  12. IIRC, he transferred/moved into Blackford? From Brownsburg maybe? That's not accurate. He transferred moved into Blackford as a freshman. He was never enrolled at Brownsburg and was never going to go there. I don't count anything that happens in AAU because people move teams every time the wind blows for all kinds of reasons. He's quit on 1 team and who knows the real details on that. People just like to find ways to take shots at the kid for some dumb reason.

  30. I know that i have no rep here but the recent addition for VT was Plan B. They really pushed for a commitment from Clowney on the visit. Went with whomever popped first. After his visit this weekend to Bama he will be a Hoosier within 2 weeks. Family will weight all things but IU has been in the drivers seat for quite some time and nothing between now and his decision day should change that.

  32. Spot on! Phillips Exeter! Vandy on a full ride! Geez HH, that kid is just. a. little. impressive! My daughter went to high school at American Heritage in Delray Florida on a theater/music/academic 75% off ride. Would have been $50k otherwise. When she got there, we discovered that the 90%+ of kids were there without a scholarship and paying full freight--mainly very wealthy families that wanted to say that their kid graduated from a private high school with Ivy league and D1 sports destinations. As with HH, my daughter is now on a more than 50% college ride for musical theater at Boston Conservatory. And the school can say to wealthy parents "look ... another of our kids got somewhere good." IMG is a little different because they are sports-centered only, but methinks it is supported by the wealthy golf, lacrosse, etc families who pay full freight. My son sings classical--a very small and hard to find skill for universities. Every single member of his freshman incoming class got at least 50% off college tuition, and he had four our five offers like that (sadly, including one he turned down from IU). Basketball is likely the small, niche program at IMG where every single kid gets an all but free ride and helps with the school's resume.

  33. I don't see the basketball player tuition in that article (lists football players etc., how about that golf tuition?) but sounds about right, though would bet they get sizeable schollys, and it's an investment. My daughter went to Phillips Exeter (in NH), cost well over $50K a year but she had a 2/3 scholarship, and is now on a full-ride scholarship at Vanderbilt -- which is freaking amazing, and she wouldn't have that without the boarding school investment in her future. The stuff about the teacher is unfortunate, and it's going on all over the place, male and female teachers. The public high school where my two sons went has had at least 3 teachers charged in such scandals, male and female, within the past few years.

    IU Field Hockey

Guess I know what I'm doing at noon tomorrow! IUFH Welcomes No. 9 Maryland, Travels to Ball State Story Links INDIANA GAME NOTES (PDF) MARYLAND LIVE STATS BALL STATE LIVE STATS WATCH (MARYLAND) WATCH (BALL STATE) BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After splitting weekend matchups with No. 2 Iowa and Richmond, IU continues its home stand on Friday against No. 9 Maryland before heading to Ball State for an in-state showdown on Sunday afternoon. ALL TIME SERIES Maryland has taken a firm control on the series between the two teams since entering the Big Ten Conference. IU has yet to win a match against the Terrapins in eight attempts. IU has dominated the series with Ball State over the years. The Hoosiers are 13-5 all time against the Cardinals and have won six in a row against its in-state rival. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS Maryland heads to Bloomington after a mid-week victory over Princeton on Tuesday evening. The Terrapins dropped the conference opener against Penn State last weekend Ball State comes into the weekend on the heels of a road-conference victory over Central Michigan. The Cardinals continue MAC play on Friday afternoon against Ohio before welcoming IU on Sunday afternoon. LAST TIME: 2020-2021 SEASON IU spent the entire 2020-2021 spring season on the road in Head Coach Kayla Bashore's second year in charge. 21-22 Men’s IUBB Schedule

That's how I look at it, too. Overall, a weaker non-conference schedule than many years since the top teams aren't as strong but more balanced since the weakest teams aren't as weak. I think it's a good schedule for a team that hasn't been to the NCAA in years since it's a chance to get wins while also allowing for the adjustment process that will be needed considering the roster turnover and a new coaching staff including a head coach who has not coached a college game before. By the end of the season the SOS will be fine from conference play.

    21-22 Men’s IUBB Schedule

I like this schedule for a couple of reasons. The pre conf "cupcakes" are not quite as cupcakey as they often are, most are reasonable games. The name brand opponents we have are not at the top of their cycles so while they are tests, they are not killer opponents early. The BIG will be tough no matter who we play, when or how many times.

  43. 1st time I saw Graham was at the Marion County tournament at Southport his Sr yr. He makes a steal at half court and goes in alone. I’m expecting a conventional dunk. He goes off 2 feet, tomahawks it back with both hands until it’s touching his neck, gets his head within a couple of inches of the rim and freaking flushes it. No one had ever told me he was that explosive. It was shocking.

LOL. Yup. We've got some great staff with NE connections, so not really worried overall. While I absolutely want to recruit nationally, I want to lock down our state first and foremost. Woody has impressed me early. Would never have guess him grabbing two studs from FL...
