  1. Great small moment. 1st OT. Brad Davison catches a pass on the right wing in a scramble situation. Race has to close out about 10 ft to get to the shooter. If it’s Davis, he doesn’t get there and Davison’s got an open 3. It it’s Smith or Juwan they probably close out of control, Davison puts a little shot fake on them and gets to the rim for an easy finish. Race closes hard and urgently, but perfectly under control. Hand up, feet under him. Takes away the shot and gives him no angle to attack. Perfect defensive play. Race was so good tonight. My college coach would have said, “That boy’s been taking notes.”

  2. Billingsley99 on HSN just posted this. Let's all hope this is accurate and CAM can get it done. I know that the part about Franklin is accurate do to rumors that came out at the time so let's see if the rest comes to fruition. "I received a text yesterday from a number I did not recognized and asked if I wanted to talk Indiana basketball recruiting? Of course I said yes and expected it to be a member of HSN. I received a call a few minutes later and it was the guy that told me the Big Fish and lots of other info but it has always come through a mutual friend. He said I see that you post a lot of what I say so i am just going to come straight to you. Told us all to relax KB is still good. I posted what I was told about him in the KB thread. He said we have to go back to get full picture. Several months ago CAM reached out to a group of recruits and told them the time is now, or there may not be enough space for you. 1 week later AF was ours and Newman, Booknight and Ramsey were off looking for their school. KB and TJD were told that no matter when they wanted to commit, they had a spot. This was not given to Watford though. Throughout the whole process it has been a 4 man class and there was a time in which the staff felt positive the RL would return so that last spot needed to fill a need not a luxury. CAM and staff have been doing a great job on the recruiting trail and parents are pleased because he is being honest and not telling everyone that they are a starter from day 1. Things cooled between us and TW and a big reason is TW did not feel prioritized and wanted to be sure parents could see him play. At some point his parents and brother assured him that if he wanted to go to IU they would love it. They are not in any way pushing it on him, just not excluding it. AS chemistry issues have come along and imminent realization that RL is gone we may have plenty of spots and 1 may be a spot that TW could step into right away. In the mean time those other schools have made him a priority and promised things that they may or may not be able to deliver. Ed has taken a big role in this recruitment and has really won over the family and TW. In fact this guy believes that a month ago had we said TW has a starting spot next year he would have pulled the trigger. Recently he has been a big target for us and he have not closed the gap completely but we are for sure in the mix. The thought of KB, TJD and TW has been discussed and talked amongst them quite a bit. Distance is still a concern but will not be the determining factor. The recent LSU issue has raised even more concern. Memphis has a lot of tools that may help the NBA route but not sure if they offer anything else that will improve his game or put him in national spotlight. Making the McDonalds team was big, not just becasue KB did not but some feel there was some concern on why KB had a spot and not TW if he were to wait. Staff did a great job of handling that issue. Recently Lester Quiones has said that he wanted to play with TW, no way that this is a package deal but it does help us if we may be losing a couple of guards on our current roster. (speculation) We have ramped up that recruitment a lot. He summed everything up with this. CAM is the right guy and it killing it on the recruiting trail with parents, players AAU coaches high school coaches etc... if TW comes for an official he is ours. The only way that he will is if it is to commit. Could happen on the visit. Feels that it would be hard to turn down Indiana after getting another up close look and he already knows how our fans are and what we all meant to his brother and wants to make the decision on what is best for him not an emotional pick. If we get him here that would be huge. This is all from 1 person and I have not heard this from anyone else. I feel that he has been right on everything he has told me so I wanted to share it with you. Some of this may be common knowledge but I wanted to include as much of the convo as possible. Now we have to get him back to campus!!!!!"

  3. It's not absurd at all. We all heard him last night, unfortunately. You say he understands the game. Did you happen to catch him when he was arguing that an elbow to the face isn't a flagrant foul? Or when he went on and on about "the hall of calls" or demanding flagrant fouls for jersey tugs? He's a hack.

  4. I really like Race. For a guy thrust into action, he’s in the right place and making the right play A LOT, even if he isn’t stuffing the stat sheet. We need more guys like that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  5. Copied and pasted a quote from Race in the article loved what he said here and hope all Hoosier come in with this attitude. “I’ll really do anything I can to win the game,” Thompson said. “I don’t care about points. I don’t care about rebounds. I’ll put my body on the line for my guys, dive on the floor, take a charge; I don’t really care.”

  6. The only way you don't see him back for year four is if you unplug your tv and don't get on a computer or phone. He will be here for a long time. Hope Trendon comes! Go IU!!

  7. So, my wife put the kybosh on selling the ticket because she can’t get the hotel deposit back. So here I am at Nicks, pre-gaming hard as always. I’m really glad I didn’t sell them. Consensus here is that it will be another close one. I don’t care. You win this f’n game man. Do it for me. I sacked up, I paid for the trip. Now just win it. I don’t care if it’s ugly or what. Just win man. Give me that effort. Give me that will. Go Hoosiers. Side note, why’s Nicks always where the opposition seems to show up? I mean really? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  9. Our last 2 wins are against Wiscy and MSU the 2 teams we are absolutely horrible against. MSU was just our 5th win over them in 12 yrs. Wiscy was our 3rd in 13 yrs. Everything about this season makes no sense. Also Greg Gard is nowhere near the coach Bo Ryan was. The discipline, the frustrating lock down defense, the impeccable free throw shooting, slow style and flawless play are all gone. Wiscy still has talent and win a lot for now (but we will see long term) but everything that defined then under Ryan is no more. Hopefully if we can be halfway decent we should win over Wiscy more often now and maybe even in the Kohl Center soon given they seem to be struggling for an identity under Gard.

  10. I just re-checked the box score from last night. Two things stood out (at least to me): 1. Both teams combined to go 30 for 52 from the FT line. Yikes! That's absolutely embarrassing -- and brutal. 2. Rob played 43 minutes and had 0 turnovers. I like that!

  11. He was actively rooting for Wisconsin last night.. I don't know what leads you to believe that "he loves IU more than maybe anyone" after last night's broadcast.. Other guys call games at their old schools and they act much different than Dakich does when he calls IU games.

  13. One thing I’ll say about Archie. I know we lost against Rutgers in the BIG tourney last year. I know we lost against Purdue and Iowa in our last 3. But we are playing our best ball again at the end of the year. You give Archie all of his guys and I believe we don’t miss the tourney again for the foreseeable future.

  18. Armaan's high school career ended this evening as Lawrence North defeated Cathedral 65 - 59. Unofficially, Armaan finished with 30 pts. on 11-18 FG; 2-7 on 3's (one was a 3/4 court heave); 6-9 FT; 3 reb; 2 assts; 3 stls; 1 TO; 2 blks. Cathedral had no interior defense and LN got way too many points and second chance points in the paint.

  19. I think his final 3 schools are all willing to do things that are also making Wade testify in court. IU let the Watford family know a while back they are not playing those games.

  22. Did anyone else like what they saw from Smith tonight? I haven't gone back through every page and it may have already been brought up; but I thought he was very good tonight minus the foul trouble. 12 points on 5-9 from the floor, 6 rebounds, and 2-2 from the line. Only 1 turnover. Also loved seeing Phinisee back to his old self. 11 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 0 turnovers. I like the trend of this team. Might be a slow grind; but I do like some of what I see.

  26. This just in...it has been determined that Nigel Hayes did not shoot enough free throws in the January 2016 Indiana-Wisconsin basketball game in Madison. As such, Wisconsin will bring Hayes back to tonight's matchup of the Hoosiers and Badgers in Bloomington, to start the game by shooting 6 free throws. Consequently, Indiana's Juwan Morgan will start the game with 3 personal fouls.

  27. It's one thing to say it. It's another thing to do it. Until last night Race Thompson had played 22 minutes of college basketball - and he was merely 'saying it'. Last night he played 21 minutes. And, in his very first game with extended time on the court ...he did it.

  37. He doesn't just "not have a bias for IU", he's incredibly biased against IU when he calls our games. He can say whatever he wants on his radio show. He's supposed to be a professional when he calls games and he was anything but that last night. All the other people who do our games manage to not be biased in IU's favor while also not trashing us any chance they get.

  40. Yup, Hummel is enjoyable to listen to. If there's anyone who should have bias against IU it's a former Purdue player, but if he has any he doesn't show it because he knows how to be a professional.
