  1. As some one who has lived in a small-rural town, a college town, and now a city, all have their own dangers and require people to use common sense and awareness to not put yourself in dangerous situations (which I realize for some people it is difficult to escape dangerous environments due to life circumstances). People that think one place is more dangerous than another by nature either a) don't get out much or b) have some bad experience in their life. Both are understandable, but we need to stop with the whole boogeymen mentality of inner cities and realize that there are a lot of good people everywhere and they live in all different places (albeit some bad but there are bad people everywhere too). Gun violence is never funny but the only people I have ever known to be victims of gun violence were from my hometown in rural southern Indiana, not my current home in Indianapolis. College towns can be really dangerous too (especially for women). I also believe everywhere has something special to offer. Every city or town is a home to someone and has its own culture, traditions, and experiences to share and enjoy. It would be cool if Matthew Hurt went to IU, but I am not overly confident. Guy has Duke written all over him.

  3. If IU were located in Indy someone else could make the same comment and I wouldn't really argue it. Reality is, if my son were considering a school I'd be quite aware of environmentals such as crime rate. He didn't refer to anything untrue. Now if I may excuse myself, it appears one son has locked the other in the dog's kennel. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    (2020) PG - Caleb Love

Haven’t gotten to see Love play yet. Will definitely check out CBC this fall. But I have heard 3 things consistently about him: 1) He is a great kid who any fan base would be proud of. 2) He is an absolute defensive menace. 3) Contrary to the article, Love is currently, in fact, a terrible shooter. To the point that he will turn down open shots. I’m looking forward to seeing him.

  11. Oooh... in with the jokes before this recruit officially fades from IU's radar: "IU to have a high-character/Cockburn-free 2019 recruiting class." "IU gets mixed news - bad experience with Peter Jurkin, but no Cockburn." "Dunks will continue in Indiana, but without Kofi."

Kentucky, Duke, and UNC have all worn black alternative jerseys. I get tradition, but everyone - especially players - like to shake it up every once in awhile.

    Tailgating

I’ve been on here for awhile now and I know this has been discussed, but anyone who tailgates in lot 12 or grass lots wanna meet up with me and my gf for a few tailgates this year? I go all out typically ribs and sides and the whole nine. I have a nice sound system as well that I setup. As of right now I will not be attending the home opener due to the fact my gfs best friend is getting married on that Saturday.....in Minnesota. Gf has said oh you can stay and go to the game, but we all know what that means....

    Upcoming season

I was sitting around the home office today and started thinking about this years football schedule. I’m not going to do predictions as that thread will start mid August I’d say. What i would like to do is look at each opponent and basically what I see from them/read on other boards. Have fun with discussions. First three opponents FIU- they lost their QB, but they made a bowl last year and have Florida talent. I expect a decent offense with a subpar defense in the opener UVA- they lost their QB and they lost a lot on their defense. Lost a great LB and then in the off-season I believe they lost a few players to off the field incidents as well as a pretty good DL retiring from football due to injuries. They have a JUCO QB coming in very mobile....And returning leading rusher is back....like I said their defense will need to fill some pretty big holes. Ball State- all I have to say is stomp on their throats and don’t let them back in the game like we did 2 years ago gosh that was ugly and so vanilla in play calling once we were up. They have a decent to good QB. RBs will be good, but again I would say our opponents biggest question is their defense. I will do my thoughts on big ten opponents once I look at their returning starters lists.

    New unis

Don't know how I'd feel about a black alternate from the perspective of tradition. I get never changing or only making the occasional tweak. I consider myself a purist in many areas. Iconic IU is one of them. However, one could also envision the once-in-a-blue-moon alternate uniform only serving to further drive home the iconic tradition of Indiana. You stay in one routine for too long, no matter how traditional/iconic/identity-driven it is, it gets old and loses it's meaning. When I see clips of the guys wearing black IU gear with red/crimson lettering I always find myself thinking how good it looks. I'm currently looking for a black IU shirt actually. But that's just one guy's preference. Another good alternate idea if not black would be anything with the script logo. I say let the football team experiment with the black and see how it fares. 42. For Indiana to be in on these top players such as Hurt helps us in every way in getting better results. We will sign some of these, helps us in recruiting moving forward, and we will win a lot more games. Players of Hurts caliber can still be in the south relative and cut his parents travel in half to Tobacco Road. Those schools pillaged our state for years and now we can become the destination school. We need results on the court this year.
