  1. Shots been fired. This simply means they (NCAA) will take down Sean hard while Dollar ‘toupee’ Bill, Huckleberry Hound, K, Cal and Mack all do donuts in the parking lot! Just wait, Dickie and Bilas will fan the flames loudly how currupt Arizona was, how tough the NCAA was in penalizing them, and then lionize their BFFs for always doing things the right way! They’re noise bags and just part of the problem.

  2. I was at IU for Hulls' last couple years in HS and his first 3 years in college; so I was able to see him live quite a bit at both levels. Outside of the shooting, I don't see much comparison between the two. Brown's passing game is already on a different level, and he'll only get better because a lot of it is still just natural ability. Imagine what he'll do when he's surrounded by talent and knows where they'll be before they get there. As far as the shooting, Hulls was probably more efficient when I saw him as an upperclassman at South but Brown is definitely the better scorer. To be fair, Hulls was arguably the second best 3 point shooter on that team and also had a lot of talent around him. I believe the one kid (Dee Davis?) went to Xavier and one went to Butler. The other kid that was a hell of a shooter went to a small D1 or D2 school. However, I still don't think Hulls had the ability to put up the kind of numbers that Brown manages. Their defensive abilities aren't even close, IMO. Brown isn't an elite athlete but his lateral quickness is good enough to stay in front of most guards. He definitely needs to put on some muscle but he'll be a capable defender. Hulls simply wasn't. I'll put it this way: I played PG but was basically a SG stuck in a PG's body. If you asked me whether I'd prefer to go up against an 18 year old hulls or a 16 year old Brown, it would've been Hulls 10 times out of 10.

  6. What might excite more fans than him averaging 28.1 points per game (at the time this article was written on 1-19-2019) is that he (again, at the time of this writing) was 8 assists away from averaging a triple double (10.4 rebounds and 9.8 assists). I haven't found his up-to-date statistics, but this wasn't too long ago. https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/high-school-basketball/2019/01/19/Ethan-Morton-Butler-WPIAL-basketball-triple-double-Pitt-Indiana-Ohio-State/stories/201901190051

  7. Show of hands please - how many of you really believe Archie and staff have never heard of Luke Brown or watched any game tape? Just because our name hasn't specifically been mentioned doesn't mean we haven't watched a ton of tape and maybe even watched in person and it just didn't get publicized. Flint or Ostrom not nearly as recognizable as Archie or Schilling would be. Just a thought.

  8. Lady Hoosiers are confirmed participants for this fall’s Paradise Jam, scheduled for Nov. 28-30, in the U. S. Virgin Islands. The other confirmed entries are Indiana, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Washington State, according to Nels Hawkinson, executive director of Basketball Travelers Inc., which organizes Paradise Jam. Typically, a total of 8 teams participate in 2 divisions. All teams play three games with the final day's games determining placement in all positions, first through fourth in each division.

  10. I still say that part of the problem is the surplus of undersized yet talented guards in Indiana in the 2021 class. We know Archie has his eyes on Lander and Blackmon as well. Should Brown be a priority over either of them? Is Archie willing to take 2 of these guys? I think Archie definitely needs to keep tabs on Brown, but he's got plenty of competition for an offer in this class already.

  11. There are a lot of kids who don't have "measurables" and are just ballplayers. Ballplayers figure it out. Kid can shoot and has a high basketball IQ. Been taught by an old school coach who understands fundamentals along with angles and spacing. Couldn't care less where he's ranked or what other schools think. Indiana needs to at the very least "show interest," and see how he might fit. If in the end he doesn't or shows he's not capable, fine....but I don't want to see him at Purdue having success because Indiana (again...and it happened time and again w Davis and Crean) felt it could get what it needed elsewhere. (See : Stanford Robinson en lieu of a couple of local kids)

  12. Maryland. IU isn’t catching Maryland in the standings. Any potential B1G bubble team you want to lose as many as possible if you want IU’s best chance to move up the standings. Still comes down to IU finding a way to at least win 5 more games to give them a chance. Win 6 and they are in easily Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

So, some may know I live and work in Madison, Wi. Others, probably not. Still others, probably don’t care. Point is, I tell you this only so I can lead in to a bit of information. The local sports radio stations I frequent in the Morning, all briefly touched on the incident during their individual recap of the game. Each of the broadcast teams I listened to: #1. Acknowledged the play happened #2. Admitted the action was intentional #3. Agreed that the play was dirty #4. Condemned Davidson’s reckless and potentially dangerous play. Idk. Given what I know about basketball fans in this area, I was shocked to hear them not blindly defend the kid. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  18. I am pretty sure this is separate from the investigation. Them and Louisville are going to hurt. I don’t see Kansas getting much. Honestly I got Louisville taking the brunt of this. They were already on probation before this. I think they get a multi year tournament ban, reduction in scholarships, and drastically cut recruiting ban. If I were a betting man that’s what I think they get. I think Zona gets a one year ban and reduction in scholarships. I also think Sean Miller will get it the worst of any active coach. Maybe a full season ban or something like that. I think Pitino gets a five year show cause. That’s a lot of predictions, but it will be interesting. I don’t see any way these schools go unpunished. 23. A good turnout of Coaches. Cuonzo Martin was there. Brad Underwood, Travis Ford from SLU, Assts from Oklahoma and Kansas St. I’ve seen Love better offensively, but on 4 viewings, this was pretty typical. He doesn’t shoot it well. Will float for stretches. Average passer. When he decides to attack he can create a lot of contact and either finish or get fouled. He can be a nasty defender. McKinney is a spectacular athlete, but there were maybe 4 occasions where Love absolutely locked him up. He’s got great traits. Just not convinced it adds up yet. I forget sometimes he’s a Jr.

  38. Vashon defeated CBC 79-69 in a game that was frankly painful to watch taking nearly 2 hours to play a high school game because of all the clock stoppages. It was a less than stellar performance for Caleb Love although he did score 22 points compared to his season average of 19.7. He was only 6-20 from the field and 0-4 on 3's, one of which was an airball. Of the 10 2-point FG he missed, I think 7 were in the paint because he couldn't finish at the rim. 2 of his misses were also dunks. He is a 79% FT shooter and did hit 10-13 tonight and had 5 reb; 2 assts; 4 stls; 3 TO's. All of this is my highly unofficial scorecard. He did have 2 baskets waved off when the officials decided he was fouled on the floor before he got the shot off. The game featured a little bit of everything. There were at least 3 fouls called on 3-point shooters, a tech for hanging on the rim, a bench tech and 2 more player techs. Trend seems to be growing for shorter trunks with many players rolling the waistband. Tonight there was a player who rolled the legs to shorten his trunks to a 1970's level. Don't know how he did it but he did. Love is a 247 4-star with a national rank of 35 and the #5 ranked PG. The most impressive player on the court tonight was Mario McKinney a Vashon senior already signed to play for Missouri next year. He's a 3-star CG ranked #148 by 247 but overall was the best player on the court. Also playing for Vashon is Cam'Ron Fletcher a junior SF ranked #39 by 247 and with offers from many D1 majors including 5 from B1G schools plus Marquette, Kansas St., UCLA to name a few.

  41. 76 for it to be quad 2. No chance of that happening. You still want them to be at least in the top 10. Not all quad 1 wins are created equal. A win at MSU if they are still in top 10 is still way better then at Penn St that is 74 even though they are both quad 1 wins Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  44. Lol! Why a walk-on? By the time '21 is here, he will be one of the studs of the class. Besides, if he can maintain his scoring and passing, who is looking at his defensive stats? This kid WILL be the talk of the state, and there will be many of state folk that will expect to see an IU offer. I will expect one. Don't think we can sleep any longer on this one. Doesn't have to be an offer, just open the lines of dialogue between the Browns and the staff.

    Injury Updates

Idk much about his high school stats but he was originally a top 100 player in the 2018 class on 247. He then reclassified to 2017 and was ranked about 130. He used that reclass year to redshirt and get healthy from some knee problems. It was known from the time he committed he would redshirt. As for this year he probably was gonna be a spot minute guy until he got injured. I am willing to bet he would have played more than Clifton and Jake though and with De’Ron going out, possibly could have played significant minutes behind juwan. However, with the concussion it’s hard to tell what to expect for the rest of the year since he’s never played and isn’t in game shape. He is known for his interior defense and ability to play the stretch 4/5. He has the ability to hit threes in pick and pop. He is not overly athletic and is a below the rim player, but knows how to use his body for positioning on defense and rebounding. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
