Though 'Bama did look awfully good yesterday, I still think of these numbers: 38-3 (LOL!)

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm fine with the ranking for multiple reasons. 

1) AP rankings are not worth nearly as much since we know the committee with do their own thing regardless. 

2) While we look good, we haven't been overly impressive and have multiple holes at key position groups. Very good team but not elite as of now. 

3) We win and it will take care of itself. Our biggest games are still on the schedule. Take care of who we are supposed to and compete with OSU and we will be high in committee rankings. 1-2 hiccups in projected wins and /or getting throttled by OSU and we will free fall, deservedly. 

Only 5 games in. We will end up where we are supposed to be.

I actually disagree about ending up where we belong. Georgia is probably going undefeated.  And either Notre Dame or Miami will end up being undefeated.

After losing to Alabama by 33 points, MIssissippi State fell exactly one ******* spot in the AP poll.

If we beat OSU we will be top 5. But you are right maybe 4 is about as high as we can go because ND or Miami will be undefeated and the SEC will take the other spots. Maybe 3 if we run the table but I think we lose to OSU and when that happens we will drop significantly imo just because we see what they did to drop OSU after only losing on the road by 1pt. We could in theory sneak up if we make it to B1G championship game and win. But I am guessing if we get in, we end up with a home playoff game and not so great draw. Winning will take care of it all however so hopefully we do well at Nebraska and come up with some type of D scheme to beat OSU.

Ironically both the SEC and BT currently have 10 teams that are undefeated or with one loss.

9/10 of those SEC teams are ranked in the top 17.

3/10 of those BT teams are ranked in the top 17.  (6/10 BT teams are in the top 25 so 4 of the teams don’t qualify as a top 25 win)

OSU should be #1. They gave the Texas game away. Being at home against them gives us a chance to beat them if we avoid turnovers and keep Smith relatively in check. I believe we are as good or better than them in the trenches so we'll see.

And it was a Mississippi State home game!!
OSU fell more than that after losing by one point, on the last play, on the road vs the #1 team.

Note of interest:   since their opening season loss at IU, North Texas has went 3-1 and averaged 47 points.

I agree, especially if the courts allow Daley and Wyatt to play. They move our DL from being very good to dominant.

The rankings are the biggest crock of BS in sports. Any other school with IU’s resume dating back to last season would be #1. If you want to say last year’s rankings shouldn’t play a part, fine. The hell has notre dame done to be #3 then? Mediocre wins over North Carolina and MSU? We’ll simply never get any love in the polls. Not as long as our jerseys say Indiana across the front. Indiana vs. Everyone.

They’ve played 3 B1G teams and blown them all out including Wisconsin who looks possibly decent, although I’m not convinced. Georgia’s resume is worse. Miami’s resume is the same or worse. Of the three Big teams they’ve beaten, none are ranked.  Only Wisconsin might be a quality win by years end.
