Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Top 3 is nice, but when's someone going to say we're #1 and give us a solid commitment? ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Alford Bailey Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Feel good about being top 3 but we got some serious competition. Deron is a must get for us and I think Crean knows it. Quote

KelleyHoosh Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Yeah, Arizona being a powerhouse and close to him makes way too much sense. Not confident here but what do I know. Hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised mdn82 1 Quote
FKfootball Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I'm feeling Arizona. We have no momentum right now. Quote

Hovadipo Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Don't count out the Longhorns either. Shaka is going to throw the woodshed at him and try to make his first splash at UT. HoosierTrav 1 Quote
HoosierTrav Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Arizona being on that list scares me. Closer to home and would be playing for a coach and team that likely wont be drowning in turmoil. I worry about the recruits watching us next year. The fanbase is expecting quite a bit out of this team (rightfully so) but we haven't quite cooled on our stance with our coach. The second that this team starts to take on the characteristics of a Tom Crean team, the fans will let him have it and if we thought the end of the season was ugly for Coach last year, then just wait until this team starts to fall short of our expectations. I feel bad for the kids bc I think the fans see this as a final four or bust year. That's asking a lot out of this group IMO. Edit: I'd like to add that if this team has early success, we could see a major recruiting momentum. Something tells me that Thomas Bryant will attract some studs to come play with him, especially if he's having fun. Bryant, Holt, and Davis would make for one physical frontcourt. Quote
mamasa Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Let's keep this on track about De'Ron, not Crean or fan's expecations scots07, Hoosierboy1980, MartintheMopMan and 1 other 4 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Let's keep this on track about De'Ron, not Crean or fan's expecations I felt that was related to De'Ron, frankly I think its a stretch to say its not. De'ron is directly linked to our recruiting success this year. Without him, its unlikely we even have a decent class. Let alone one that is well rounded. Losing out on him will be a critical blow for this program on and off the court. Never Daunted, 8bucks, The Ola Depot and 1 other 4 Quote

Losing out on him will be a critical blow for this program on and off the court. Its fine you feel that way. But this is not the thread for the outlook of our 2016 recruiting class. Its also a huge stretch to say without De'ron the class can't even be decent. Example of appropriate comment in this thread: De'ron is critical to our recruiting success. Losing out on him would really hurt the program. Example of not appropriate comment in this thread: Crean needs land De'ron and he is failing to put together a good 2016 class. Glass has to get rid of him. That serves for everyone. I hope this provides some clarity. Any questions, please PM a toon squad, mod or admin. CCG and Pap work incredibly hard on these recruiting files, we want to do our best to keep them as clean as possible. Thank you ElectricBoogaloo, MemphisHoosier, Stuhoo and 8 others 11 Quote
WilJos3390 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I think it speaks volumes that were in the final 3 w/ Zona for a kid on the west coast. The staff has been and are currently doing all they can to land this kid. Hope it happens IUsafety, Happydaze, mamasa and 2 others 5 Quote
FKfootball Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 We need Bryant to have early success. It's a good selling point to a kid like Davis. Quote
HoosierAloha Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 We need Bryant to have early success. It's a good selling point to a kid like Davis. Even with early success from Bryant, Holt could be the key. If Holt gets increase time and is successful how likely is it we land Davis? We have yet to see a Crean team at IU feature two bigs. My fear is we lose Davis to Zona because there system is better suited for two bigs on the court at the same time. Quote

If De'ron's thought process for choosing a school is based primarily on a school falling short of expectations he might as well just go ahead and choose UT then because surely watching UA continuously fall on it's face after being hyped as a championship contender every year must also be a turnoff. I suspect his decision making process is a bit more sophisticated or at least a bit more involved than that. Personally, I like IU's position here and think UT is a bigger threat than UA. maxwell 1 Quote
