It seems entirely possible that Assistant Coach Matt Abdelmassih's "health issues" are more accurately described as:

"major stress because him and Hoiberg blew up the program while using Matt Abdelmassih as a barely disguised bag man just like he was for Hoiberg at Iowa State."

Wow he is not even a good cheater. He has been horrible at Nebraska and they are no better three years in (and maybe worse) than when he started. They are so far the worst team in the Big Ten since he got there. He brought in better players this year but cannot develop them which sounds familiar.

Miles was not great but he was competitive, while Hoiberg has been terrible. Husker's version of Crean to Archie. To compare Miles had a (barely) winning record against IU. Hoiberg is 0-5 against us when we have not exactly been great either. Says all you need to know.

What was strange was he actually brought in a very good class this year (seems like we know how now) and was still losing.

At least they won’t have to vacate any tournament wins.

I also thought they'd be doing a little better at this point, but I think the ranking of their 2021 class was pushed way up by getting Bryce McGowens whose brother was already on the team.  I would hope they didn't have to cheat to get that commitment with such a strong family connection in place, but who knows.  Could also be some sort of transfer violations since Hoiberg commonly uses that route.

More bad tidings for Nebrasketball:

Nebraska's Kurt Rambis/Dwight Schrute doppelganger is out for the season. He is in reality a pretty well-regarded recruit who has had some good moments.

A great post from one of the Nebrasketball boards:

What is worst case scenario, I’m legitimately asking.. We’ve already been banning ourselves from postseason play for years with our putrid play. Scholarships? This team is arguably the worst in the B1G already so can’t get much lower. Team would probably be better with 12 walk-one that played unselfish basketball and good defense anyway. We have to fire Hoiberg? Good chance but all this does is give us justification to greatly reduce his buyout will actually save us a lot of money.. at this point I think the worst case is the NCAA forces us to give Fred a 10 year contract and keep things exactly as is and we have to watch this horrendous basketball for years to come

Now that's a great perspective

I would've never guessed this was how the ending of the Nebrasketball Hoiberg era would look. I said the same about Archie too, so maybe I'm just a stupid, no-good, slow-learning, cotton-headed ninnymuggins.

Guess it depends on what "some people" means.

My guess is a dozen or so people in Lincoln, Nebraska ...

Just out of curiosity, who is the best coaching duo in the B1G? It'd be hard to beat the Ryan Day-Chris Holtmann tandem, perhaps with Juwan Howard-Jim Harbaugh as a distant runner-up ...

There were comments from IU fans saying things like "sad that Nebraska cares more about its basketball program than IU" when Nebraska hired Hoiberg.

Hoiberg has been on my sh*t list ever since he insisted on coaching his team in the Big Ten tournament even though he was sick, right before Covid shut everything down. Maybe the rest of the BTT would have been canceled anyway, but him leaving the game sick in the second half probably got that whole avalanche of cancellations started. He should have just stayed home if he felt that poorly. Just really, really bad optics.

I don't think Hoiberg coaching sick had anything to do with the cancellations. That seems a bit shorted sighted. I do agree it was bad optics.
