This was an absolutely horribly executed game.

With that being said, finding a way to win this game really was quite remarkable.

Personally, I really like Grant Wilson. He seems like a high IQ player and good leader. Really hope he gets the opportunity moving forward. I think he will only get better.

Just listening to Cignetti with Don Fischer....just reading between the lines, I'd say Josh is still #1 and will start against USC. He didn't say that but his praise of Grant was tempered and it just sounded like this was a situation where you #1 guy is hurt, your #2 goes out and does what is expected of him, but when #1 is healthy it is still his job.

If we drop USC and start Josh Hoover it’s 100% Cig.  Kid has looked underwhelming to bad all year.  If you have to bench him to try and win a game. It’s 100% of you if you let him lose you a game in the future.

I don’t care about his injury. His decision making is worse than his overthrows

Well like I said, he didn't say that and Fisch didn't ask....I just didn't get the feeling that a healthy Hoover doesn't get his job back. But Grant may have won the job...just didn't feel like that.

I’m kinda hoping we roll with Grant.

But, of course, whatever this staff wants to do is fine they’re excellent.

If they roll with Wilson I can only assume that whatever’s wrong with Hoover’s arm is more than can improve with 2 weeks off and that decision pretty much makes itself. But I just don’t think you’re beating USC or winning a B1G Championship game or a playoff game with him, whereas if Hoover is, say, 95% maybe you do.

I fully believe that Grant Wilson can win our next 3 games. USC sucks. Wilson is a serviceable game manager.

Big Ten Championship depends on who we play.

I don’t think we have the QB on roster to win the CFP. Hoover can’t string more than 2 or 3 good throws together. And he consistently calls the one play on RPO he can’t read the defenses.

If #1 is hurt (clearly, something is wrong), why is he playing and why is he running the ball? Clearly Grant can play, and this should give him plenty of confidence.

If #1 is not hurt, WTH is wrong with him? Who's in he head?

I was a sophomore in 1967 for that magical season that featured the Cardiac Kids who got that moniker for how they managed to pull out W's.  Really a good parallel to our current team because while the BIG kids (Butcher, Isenbarger and Gonso) got the press, the defense was the real key to that team's success.

The narrative and talking heads are now fully down on IU after all of these performances.

Exactly how Cig likes it.

IU has earned all the criticism. The special teams should be arrested, charged with crimes against humanity and publicly executed. Sure the 60 yarder was fantastic, but the rest of the game Special teams was embarrassingly bad. The offense with Hoover is horrible. The last 4 weeks have been bad football bailed out by an excellent defense and mostly inept opponents. There is no way IU is a top 5 team in the country.

I remember the Minnesota game that year... they took us to the woodshed at their place. Cardiac Kids, indeed.

Well, Josh doesn't have anything wrong with his legs that I know of, so he should be able to run if that is his best option. But I agree, something is off, he is missing way too many passes, throwing everything high  or behind his receivers. Like I said, I am reading between the lines, Cig might just be keeping all his options open, wanted USC to have to prepare for both QBs?

This may be true, but I don't think we are that far off. There are no elite teams this year and very few teams that could even say they are complete in most aspects of the game. Just make the playoff, and anything can happen.
