This will require a few of the freshman being ready to contribute. And provides little depth in case if injuries. I realize it’s hard to keep 11-13 happy but keeping happy vs little injury depth is a big concern. Anyway, impact guys are likely, unless we get an above average big man still. Yeah, go get some depth. And count on the freshmen who are ready and able... NIL has changed a lot of things. But even prior to that, the majority of HS kids came to college and had to "pay their dues". Upperclassmen generally got the lion's share of the playing time, and everybody understood that. Of course there were exceptionally talented kids from time to time who were the exception. Prior to 1972, freshmen were not even eligible to play varsity sports. So with that said, I am much less concerned with keeping 11-13 kids happy. If they want playing time, they will have to earn it. Problem solved. cthomas and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote

Would be very disappointing but I just don't see that happening. I have a real hard time believing that DeVries, Carr, the coaching staff and the donors would bring us to this point and then not finish the job. That would be irresponsible and inexcusable, IMO. But that’s par for the course, so it’ll be what it’ll be. Quote

But yes if we use our spots we generally need guys who have give us 5-7 minutes without making us look like a Purdue football Quote

If just one frosh plays rotation mins and you add a backup big you’re at a 9 man rotation already. There isn’t really room for anyone else of note. I’m not sure what people are expecting. However, an open competition for those spots from 13 capable members will yield a better team than intentionally filling spots 11-13 with intentionally lesser talent. Try to find the Juco kid that might pop, or a Foriegn kind with attributes or something because you never know. Wagler from Illinois is a good example of ‘you never know’. Find players and fill the spots let practice figure out your best. pumpfake 1 Quote
Pagoda Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Hysterics with Rabby said the budget for the roster this year was about $20M. I don’t know how much of that was spent, but I would assume once all is said and done, it will be most of it, like high-teens. That’s insane. IU is funding FB and MBB at levels I didn’t think were possible. Hoosierfan2017, Home Jersey, WayneFleekHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

I think the sport probably met its near max this offseason on what teams will pay. I don't see it jumping significantly from here. My gut told me Whitten and Dolson were going to do everything they could to set DeVries up. Last year didn't go the way I expected, so that was odd. But thankfully we are committed. They did the best they could in the circumstances last year, this time they were apparently prepared and got several of their top targets. To intentionaly leave a roster as incomplete as this would be mind-bogglinlgy stupid. I don't think the staff is stupid. J34 1 Quote
CSP Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Sherrell 30 Samet 30 Sisley 15 Harris 26 Lindsay 26 Burton 32 Mustaf 26 15 mins left.... 5 mins at the 4/5, 10 mins at the 1-3. We have very little left to sell in terms of minutes, realistically speaking. And that's with knowing nothing about Moody, Karvala. BGleas 1 Quote

If it's closer to 25mpg each, that's 15 mins at the 4/5. Likely a few games with foul trouble or injury where the third big could need to play more than that IMO. I think the minutes at 1-3 are mostly set with who is on the roster. str8baller and Hardwood83 2 Quote

rcbowla Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Honestly I'm fine with just adding another true 5. Someone overlooked that is in that 6'11-7'2 range that you think can play in a bind now (take up space) but also believe can be developed for future. Can't teach size. Not sure if that individual is out there or not. Home Jersey and JF87 2 Quote
