I’d rather get the offense humming at its optimum, and then bring Enright in for when the defense is needed. Also, Purdue is not athletic. Vs more athletic teams we will not get the same looks without someone who can penetrate regularly. Small sample size but where Enright was the one and only lead ball handler against Rutgers and Purdue, we looked way better than when they were out there together in games prior. 2 games we get big wins with Connorway seeing very little time BGleas 1 Quote

I think we take another step with Conorway back and healthy starting over an offensively limited Enright. Quote

Enright has had 2 strong games in a row, but he got worked by Michigan State and their strength and athleticism. Whatever it is, I hope we can get a split on the west coast. Quote

Banksyrules Posted Sunday at 01:22 AM Posted Sunday at 01:22 AM Hmmm after a couple of games ( the only ones I watched because I was too dug in in football) I’m wondering why we have this thread. I’m picturing what this team would be with better incoming recruits and I see the potential there. The only thing I would critique is that the Coach needs to purposefully call more plays in the paint to at least keep defenders honest. The kids at least hustle and played better defense than any of our teams the past 15 years. Guys and ladies what am I missing? Home Jersey, True Fan, J34 and 3 others 6 Quote

I was critical early because we did not seem to have toughness and grit, let alone enough talent to win much. Team has that toughness now. Wasn’t excited about how we executed down the stretch in regulation but they beat Purdue, smashed Rutgers on the road and beat a good UCLA team even though we had kids fouling out left and right. Not sure if it will last all season but we have the toughness now to overcome some of our shortcomings and that can be the fuel to make this a good season and show hope for what can be. We have this thread because a small subset of our fans cannot handle any level of adversity without losing their minds. And that type of person loves to complain on the internet. This thread was posted halfway through our new coach's first season, at which point the team was 12-6, 3-4 in conference. I am not a mod but I think the existence of this thread is kind of embarrassing to our fanbase. J34, NatHillIV, mamasa and 9 others 8 4 Quote

And only getting better. Enrights last 3 games now have been impressive. Having 3 shooters is helping him a lot. Much better balance offensively, let’s him do what he is best at. and West Coast split is all we needed if we can hold home court. USC is a different beast. I don’t think they are as good as UCLA. Baker Maz is really, really good. They have speed and athletes. Venue won’t be too intimidating. Making the tournament was what we needed imo. Things are looking better. MikeRoberts Posted Sunday at 02:57 AM Posted Sunday at 02:57 AM This thread was very premature but let’s not kid ourselves, before this 3 game win streak this team looked lifeless. I understand the concern. that said, great 3 wins, let’s keep it going, get into the tourney and build on this season we should all be happy we didn’t hire Micah shrewsbury, that would have been a giant dumpster fire Hardwood83, Class of '66 Old Fart, BGleas and 3 others 6 Quote

A college basketball season is long and full of ups and downs. This thread is premature to the point of being silly, hence the title change from "Fire Darian DeVries" to "Fire Darian DeVries? It's like some are so eager to critique they don't let themselves enjoy the ride of being a fan. Hopefully they keep giving us more to cheer about. HoosierHoopster and MikeRoberts 2 Quote
