I know many are not fans of Field of 68 or Goodman, but an interesting thing they've been doing is surveying coaches in different conferences to rank head coaching jobs. Here's how B1G coaches rank programs in the conference in terms of desirability for a HC:

I feel like everyone understands IU is a top job except for a certain myopic self-loathing fan that is only found online. Facilities, recruiting ground, financial commitment and now NIL spend make it one of the more desirable jobs in the country where most know a good coach can come in and win big.

Dusty is showing that you can get the NIL spigot turned on at UM too, but without him I’m not sure they’d lead the list. I could be convinced a charismatic coach could do the same at OSU. I’d argue that panhandling at Purdue is harder than Painter makes it look.

Not really about DDV, but just on the subject of head coaches...

For those curious here are some other power conferences (don't think they've done the SEC yet):

I feel Josh Schertz will be super well sought after, but I just don't think the coaching jobs that are likely to be open this year are all that desirable (Pitt, Syracuse, Providence, KState, ASU, and a few others in this tier, and other A10 jobs like URI and Dayton). UNC would be interesting for him, but I feel Hubert Davis will keep doing just well enough to be impossible to fire but clearly continue a really really slow and prolonged decline.

IUBB right around the top?

I still watch bc I believe the style of play. Not sure it will happen this year though. Definitely need Conerway back soon.

Dorn over Conerway has made a significant difference these last 2 games.

Both of these are true for me.

Devries is going to have to make a tough descision soon; either Enright or a healthy Conerway in the starting lineup but not both.

No idea what DeVries will do, but he did pull Bailey from the starter's role in favor of Alexis so he is willing to make a lineup change.

He's got one ready-made with Tayton missing time with the ankle. Imagine he'll go with substantial minutes for Tayton but off of the bench once he's ready to be a full go.

A win against Purdue is always big. That said, even Woodson had some wins over Purdue. This is a top 20 Purdue team, but not a top 5 team. That was their third loss in a row. We had a raucous home crowd to fuel the win. The real test will come on the West coast swing against USC and UCLA. Can we beat a quality team on the road? We need to find some real momentum, not just a singular win.

It should be match up based.  No reason to keep sending the same line up every game.

Need to take one. Then Wisky, Oregon, NW, and Minny we should all be favorites in and honestly should win at home. If we can’t get to 5 more wins that way, I think that last game at OSU is potentially doable and would be huge.

Fail to accomplish that and we’re almost definitely on the outside looking in for the big dance as we head into the BTT.

Year 1 is always hard. He needed a whole new team. You handle the portal differently when you just need two or three vs 13.

With today’s signing, we now have 10 scholarships committed for next year, assuming everyone comes back. That is a pretty large assumption in this day and age I understand. But, it would seem that the largest NIL earners are leaving. So CDD should have money to work with. It’s nice we will have three top 75 freshman- but it’s really hard to count on freshman. Looking at the current returners I’m not super confident in anyone outside of Dorn and Sisley. We haven’t seen Harris or Drake so that’s hard to say. We will need size to nice again desperately from the portal and hopefully increased athleticism. And honestly, we will probably need a couple of guys to leave because it appears to me. We will need five or six from the portal to be competitive next year in the B1G

If we played them one week earlier they would have been!

Yes, if we'd played them a week earlier they would have been top five. But if we'd played them next week they might barely be ranked!

I had hopes for Dorn when they picked him up. Then he was slow out the gate bc of injuries. I assumed he just wouldn’t get there this year. Honestly I’d love to have Conerway in and put Enright on the bench as the 6th man.

Why would you favor Connorway over enright when we saw what the team does when Connorway isn’t out there? They win

Because Conorway is better offensively. He can beat his man off the dribble and create for our shooters. I’d rather get the offense humming at its optimum, and then bring Enright in for when the defense is needed.

Also, Purdue is not athletic. Vs more athletic teams we will not get the same looks without someone who can penetrate regularly.

Agree some matchups will be better suited for Conerway. He does things that nobody else on the roster can.

But if we are playing a team who's star player is their PG, Enright is a must-play. (see Kansas St and Purdue)

At this point though, I think you just start one of them, and Dorn plays as many minutes as fatigue/fouls allow.
