Let me also add that Mike Rumph was drafted by my 49ers in the first round as a CB but he sucked so much that they had to move him to safety. Sadly, he sucked there as well.

Lost mine in 2010 as well.  He was never as big into IU football as he was basketball, but I feel like he would have really been into it the past couple years and would have loved Cignetti.

That game and this season were the most meaningful collection of sporting events of my life. Getting to go to the big ten championship with one of my best friends from IU who sat through all the Archie and Tom Allen games with me and getting to enjoy games with the rest of our friend group all of which lost precious time on campus because of Covid, going to the Peach Bowl with my family, and enjoying countless games with my wife in our seats in memorial stadium or at the bars has been nothing short of amazing. Broke down in tears at the end because all I’ve ever wanted in sports is to see IU win the whole damn thing and I got to enjoy this season with everyone I love.

Well to be fair we have won a lot of championships recently. Big Ten, Heisman, Rose Bowl, Peach Bowl and the national championship. Probably hard for those shirt guys to keep up.

WE’RE THE FLIPPIN CHAMPS!!!!!!!! Let’s go! Even if someone pinched me, still would feel like a dream. Never thought this was possible, Hoosier freaking football just won the national championship. What a freaking time right now. All those horrible years hoping and praying just to win enough games to make a bowl game…… to this. Couldn’t be more proud and excited for this program.

That play call and exucution was masterclass.  Shanahan knew exactly how the Canes defense was lining up.  Mendoza wasn't touched because Coogan cleared the way from the line of scrimmage, and Evans and Black were both working Bissainthe when Mendoza hit him.  Then Fernando made his pirouette and dive for style points.  That is a play we will all replay on video and in our heads for a long time to come.

Our flight from Detroit to Indy is being delayed because a flight out of Miami was late and passengers are rushing to connect. Pilot just came back and told us they’re “trying to do a Mendoza.”

Shortly after that - Plane is full. Everyone made it. Pilot is back: “It’s absolutely my honor to pilot this national championship crowd.” He is receiving applause.

Before we landed, she asked the entire plane to pose for a picture that she could send to her daughter. Naturally every person on the plane held up a 1.

Series record doesn’t matter when we are winning the Natty Battle
