Ha, what a surprise Dakich tweeted about the rumor.

This is a great example of why he's trash.

Is it the end of the world he tweeted that something bad was coming for IUFB?  No.  But right now IUFB is dealing with a difficult situation and they would like to handle it on their own timeline and announce whatever it may be when they're ready.  All of the real media that covers IUFB knows it and they keep quiet.

Rumors were very slowly leaking, but Dan's tweet makes it a dam bursting.  Now the program (staff and players) have to deal with a flood of questions and attention on this matter.  Just so Dan could get a little bit of engagement and a few views.

If Dan cared one iota about IU he would just let this one be and stay quiet.  But Dan only cares about Dan.

Okay so I’ll try to spin this positively. When Sarratt went down Becker stepped into huge at PSU and now is prob option 1C as our  receiver. Who could be our next Becker at DE in the playoffs?

But losing the physical freak of our defense is irreplaceable.

Hopefully they are just initially thinking it’s a Patellar Tendon tear before they do further testing. Since sometimes they are wrong on the initial test before further testing. But that might be trying to be hopeful in this situation.

If someone wanted to be negative they would say that it was Daley when he stepped up behind Wyatt. Sorry, this one just really freaking bums me out.

If it is Patellar Tendon, totally possible that he is still able to play with taping + modern medicine within 3 weeks. This is best case scenario, unless it is a rupture of course

Yep - next man up already took place at this key position once. We are definitely now very thin at a key point of our defense. I'd guess sophomore Daniel Ndukwe steps in with RS soph Andrew DePaepe getting some snaps? Just a guess though.

For Patellar Tendinitis (Jumper's Knee) 

• Mild: 

  Can resolve in 3-4 weeks with rest, ice, NSAIDs, and PT; some sports can continue. 

   

• Moderate/Severe: 

  May need 6-8 months for complete recovery with conservative treatment (rest, PT). 

   

For Patellar Tendon Rupture (Tear) - Surgical Recovery 

• Initial Phase (0-6 Weeks): 

  Immobilization in a brace, crutches for non-weight bearing, gentle range-of-motion exercises. 

   

• Early Rehab (6-12 Weeks): 

  Brace comes off, full weight-bearing possible, starting strengthening (straight leg raises, wall slides). 

   

• Intermediate Rehab (3-6 Months):

  Progressing to squats, step-ups, single-leg exercises, stationary bike, swimming. 

   

• Advanced Rehab (6-9+ Months): 

  Sport-specific drills, jumping, hopping; full return to sport often takes 6-9 months, with high-level athletes potentially needing longer.

This sucks. Wasn’t even doing anything crazy like you might imagine when you hear someone got hurt while celebrating. I also saw some comments saying that it may have come at the end of the game rather than during the celebration. 

Either way, huge loss but gotta have a next man up mentality. At least we have 3.5 weeks to figure it out.

Well, our betting odds still haven't moved much (~22.5% down to 21% to win it all).  I know this is a significant injury that really hurts, but we still have a decent shot in our games.

I feel very bad for Stephen.  Hopefully he recovers 100% as fast as possible.

My first thought after hearing it was after the game and while celebrating was that he did something crazy. Nope. I'm glad that's not the case but man, this really sucks. Next man up.
