SIAP - highlights:

The infectious energy is fantastic. Genuinely not busting last year’s kids, but the connectivity there just never took hold and this already feels miles better after a couple of months.
Side note: the announcer’s accent when pronouncing names is awesome. Sahm Alexees. Titan Con-Airway. Love it.

I'm happy with Coach Devries and our team, but should I be concerned about a lack of enthusiasm from other IU fans for this coach and team?  I say this because there did not seem to be anyone there compared to the Bahamas trip a few years ago.  I've never been to either location, so maybe the Bahamas is less expensive or possibly the university did not put any packages together for alumni to go to these games.  We always had the reputation of "traveling well".  Should I be worried about the sparse crowds?

This is just my two cents:

I see nothing to worry about on the basketball side.  We've stunk forever and we were 7th or 8th in the country in home attendance last year.  And one data point that blows my mind is the minimum price to get into the Ohio State game last season was $130!  For a bad balcony ticket to watch a bad Woody team!  Our fans are insane and the basketball culture is still here.  Another data point is the fan support two seasons ago was excellent vs. UConn at MSG and vs. Auburn in Atlanta.  If CDD gets things going, the fan support will be immense and all the program needs.

Personally, I'm more worried about the support for football, the sport way bigger than basketball.  We've got a good thing going, maybe a great thing, and while ticket sales are much improved, we're not close to selling out the opener in our not so big stadium.  That's odd for a team coming off a CFP appearance and going into the season with a top-20 ranking.  Our athletic dept finances pretty much entirely depend on football, it's the only sport that can generate serious revenue and help fund other sports.  I hope our fans really get behind IUFB because all of IU athletics, including basketball, needs football to succeed financially.

Fully expecting Cig will need to lightly chide the fanbase early in the season about attendance / staying through the second half against cupcakes. I expect / hope fans will show up big time for the conference season. Think the enthusiasm will be there big time after people are reminded how awesome IUFB can be.

When everyone is healthy i believe Enright will come off the bench. Three players are locks: Tucker, Wilkerson, Conerway. I assume Bailey gets the nod over Alexis. So it's Dorn, Miles or Trent. Before we get to conference play my money is on Trent.

I hope that to be the case. I think Enright is a perfect spark plug off the bench and lacks some of the other things you’d want from a main player.  Miles based on box scores has not jumped off the page, where Sisley definitely has.   Sisley is earning more PT with each performance.  In some ways that’s awesome. In other ways that worries me as he looks to be a top 5 player on this team.   I always want to compare him to McNeely even though far less touted. My hope is in actuality they are closer in talent which would make me feel better about him performing like a top 5 guy.

People are waiting for the other shoe to drop. Winning football seasons are like mild winters for this fanbase: rare occurrences that are appreciated when they happen, but always mean hell to pay the following year. (And you could probably say this for the basketball program these days as well)

I get what you're saying, but what's happening is quite a bit more than previous staffs' winning seasons with like 6 or 7 wins.

But, whatever, I'm getting off topic.  On to Mega SuperBet Round 2 tomorrow at 11AM.

Kicking off the season against old dominion is pretty meh. I live 4 hours away and that game doesn’t warrant the drive, hotel and all that comes with it.  I think fans will show up come BIGTEN

Refresher for those that may have missed it on Thursday or just aren't active on X, but the accounts below did a reasonably good job with frequent game updates.  Osterman's blog is not behind the Indy Star paywall.  Thursday night he gave brief updates midway thru each quarter and a longer narrative update at the end of each quarter.  Since tonight is expected to be a far more competitive game, he may be more active in his updates.

62 attempts in 2 games?!  The last few years, it would take 4 games to get that total, and that might be pushing it.  It feels like a breath of fresh air for an INDIANA team to actually shoot 3s.

Sisley has been so efficient. The highlight clips don't make it seem like it's just a fluke either. I think the guy might be a Dude. Obviously it won't be to this level all year but the kid is going to play a lot.

Water about to find its level with Tucker Devries' shooting today.

In the first link, is it me, or does Don have a pretty good set of guns on him?  The guy is a legend in more ways than one.

I bet Pat was one of the former players the old staff put in the same group as Brian Evans who didn't like what was going on in the last few years.  I would love to see the former players enjoying the product on the floor again.

100%

What I think it's clear to state so far is the offensive schemes are showing early, with high volume outside shooting / spreading the floor, use of kickouts (reflected in game highlights clip), a running team - outlet passing and transition D, and importantly, balanced scoring with a team / system that looks to share and move the ball for better looks/shots. The balance with volume outside shooting looks great so far.

On the other hand, I don't think much should be read yet into individual players, in two exhibition games. Some guys numbers/percentages are going to drop with more games and competitive level going forward, and others are going to increase, e.g., DeVries. Definite that some players are showing promise -- I'm liking what Ristic has shown in particular so far, especially given his lack of practice time with the team  -- but again we're just 2 exhibition games in, so a lot to watch for going forward.
