There was always those fans and former player that wanted an IU guy. IU tried it with Woody, yet fans and former players were still divided. Now we have a guy that comes from the outside of the IU history, doesn't have favoritism bias toward this former championship team, or that era of players. No, we have just a dude coaching basketball and embracing anyone that want to come along for the ride.... There were a lot of hurt feeling at UConn from some former players after Ollie was fired as I recall. Hurley was able to bring them back into the fold pretty quickly… once they see the culture building and winning, it’s easy to buy in JF87, Pagoda and HoosierInParadise 3 Quote

We got our third choice and he very well could be a home run. For real man - give it up and stop digging regarding Brad. That’s all anyone wants. As I said from the beginning, I know unequivocally that Brad was not interested in the job. But even for those who never believed me, it should be very obvious in light of the totality of what is out here and the way the story has changed that you were either lying or being lied to and believing the wrong people. I believe it’s the latter because I choose to assume good faith. But it’s one or the other, without question. 94Bulldog, Alford Bailey, jonz44 and 3 others 6 Quote

Plus he is going to need two PG’s so even if you keep Rice as a backup I don’t think other schools will overpay for Rice after this year. I personally do not care who is retained. Sounds harsh. But I want DeVries to do his due diligence putting together a new roster. Rice came here for the money, as did Carlyle and Ballo. I'm not saying they aren't good players, but chasing a bag is not the best sign that a guy's priorities are in order. pumpfake, HoosierFan1994, taco corp and 11 others 14 Quote

Ha! I really hope not. As someone who at IU when the whole Eric Gordan thing happened, I still harbor some real fan hatred for that dude. Plus I think he's thrown some shots at IU on twitter in recent years. Quote

But 3 bigs where 2 can't shoot and 2 or 3 have serious lateral agility problems was more the issue. Mgbako, Ware/Ballo, and Reneau all at once is where the real problems aligned. I think Ballo and Reneau with 3 guards/athletic wings could have been excellent. go iu bb, Jeff Flabjohns, Home Jersey and 1 other 4 Quote

I can throw a d@mn rock outside here in Evansville, and probably hit a kid who could shoot better than the teams put on the floor the last 8 years. (Sarcastically of course, I think I did shoot better at a small Christian high school I played at 36 years ago.) This state is loaded with guys who can do that. It just blows my mind sometimes. Think that says a lot about the different variables that go into coach success, and how unpredictable it is. I don't have an issue with Rice, I didn't hear anything bad about him this year (though I'm not super connected), and of course he overcame cancer which will always be impressive. He just got stuck on a Woody team and that is tough. Everyone else? If coach wants them and they have an epiphany they need to change, fine, but anyone else who goes I won't miss. I saw that Leary said that Bryson Tucker would fit DDV's offense better than Woodson's. It will be interesting to see who stay and who goes. Quote
