Banksyrules Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Yeah not sure what to think. I’ll give him a fair shot but it’s a meh for me so far. I’ll never forgive Buckner and Woodson because Dusty was right there for the taking. HoosierSadaseci, Home Jersey, JPCIVOP and 4 others 7 Quote

Demo Posted March 18 Posted March 18 1 minute ago, JustWinBaby said: DeVries is actually a somewhat common surname in Dutch-speaking parts of the world and refers to a proper place (Friesland, in northern Netherlands). So it makes sense the V is capitalized. Fun fact, the language of Friesland is the closest living relative to the English language. One rhyme that is sometimes used to demonstrate the similarity between Frisian and English is "Bread, butter and green cheese is good English and good Fries" (pronounced like freeze, not like french fries, to be clear). Outstanding information! And also begs the question: which did you think was more likely when you rolled out of bed this morning, IU having a coach by the end of the day or you writing a post using “Frisian”? lillurk and HoosierSadaseci 1 1 Quote

go iu bb Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Someone posted this article in the other thread but I thought I'd share it here for those that may have missed it. It's a good read. I recommend it those on the fence about him to read it, it might sway you to a more positive outlook on the hire. I don't think people who are set against this hire will change their minds no matter what unless he starts winning games. https://www.si.com/college/indiana/basketball/todds-take-a-curt-cignetti-for-indiana-basketball-what-i-saw-darian-devries-do-at-drake-qualifies-01jpnd62eh7q HoosierSadaseci 1 Quote

Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted March 18 Popular Post Posted March 18 Regardless of whether you wanted anyone else or not it’s time to get behind an actual college basketball coach leading the program you are invested in. No need to call out anyone on stuff that didn’t end up happening or playing the I told you so card. IU program has moved on and so should this message board. You don’t have to love or even like the hire. He has time to show what he can do at the next level. College basketball lifer and grinder. Trish Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Not a sexy hire, 70% of Indiana fans are going to say out loud “Who” when they read the headline this evening. Shocking to an extent, but coaches don’t want to leave their current spots anymore. Pearl, Greg, Few, etc., Will we be here again in four years? Could be, I wouldn’t be surprised. But I hope this hire works out. Woodson never should’ve been hired in the first place, hopefully this is a legit replacement. I hope he builds a solid staff around him. EDIT: Some further thoughts, Will Stevens end up at Butler next year when his daughter is out of high school? Got that would be a kick in the nuts. First letting Dusty May go and potentially seeing Stevens return home a year after our opening. JPCIVOP and thebigweave 2 Quote
