“Mike Drop” Schumann on the Hoosier Hysterics

Mike Schumann, aka The Daily Hoosier, just ran a self-penned article that absolutely nails the situation between IUBB, Coach Woodson, and the Hoosier Hysterics.

To me? It is a 100% must read with context, evidence, and Mike Schumann’s personal perspective and conclusion.

And the Hysterics decision last week to put Mike Woodson on blast, and make him look like a fool for more than an hour on a podcast only served to amplify that the fourth-year IU head coach made the right decision to move on from them.

Podcast hosts criticizing a basketball coach is perfectly fine.  And Woodson has done plenty to justify much of it.

But when those hosts also try to play a role in the NIL space, and gain all the access that entails, the expectations change.  That was the fatal flaw here.

 

Hell yeah, Schumann. Whole column was worthwhile, but this is the most important part. They were also inexplicably allowed to get cozy before NIL ever became a thing. That should’ve been shut down long before July of 2021 when it got going and they started to cash in. This may come as a shock, but I’m glad the Hysteric Era is over.

It did make him look like a fool, and that is the best part.  

Other than that it was a good article if you are really pro Woodson.  

What Woodson did was fine and maybe even the right decision, but it just continues to show what an egotistical fool he really is.

The article is fine.  It just comes off to me like a piece intended to kiss Woodsons butt in order to justify what he did and even more importantly to take some heat off him for how he did it.  Like I have said, what he did is probably the right call in the big picture.  But how he did it combined with all the other things going on with him and IU just leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Fair enough. I’m not at the point where this whole ordeal has become personal for me. I just want to win and am glad that we jettisoned the dorks.

I gave my opinion on how the article came across to me.  If you disagree that is fine.  I am not asking for anyone to agree with me.  Just my thoughts after having read the article a couple times.

I want to win as well.  I am just more and more convinced we will not do that under Woodson's leadership and wish we would jettison him.

Lotta money to go around. These burners aren’t performing these antics for their love of Woodson. The best team and “true Fan”base money can buy.

To be clear, we’ve got the money, I’ve wanted it spent wisely for years and am happy we are significant within the NIL game.

 I am attached and interested in the IU Ladies Basketball Program for the last decade because I really enjoy how that ship sails.

The article was OK. I'm glad Mike finally got some info on his own. I'm guessing he wrote the article pro Woody so he can try to get some connections for this season.

I feel like there was a lot of conjecture about how much money IU passed on by ditching the dorks.

How much was it?  Was it insignificant?  The article implied that it was, but admitted it had no facts behind that guess.  I'm curious how much we threw away.
