Absolutely. Who knows when the roster will be filled out, but there's no way this staff won't look to have back up bench players to finish the 11-13 scholarships. Today, tomorrow or next month it will happen.

Yeah them taking a break right now doesn’t mean this is the full roster. The portal entry period closes on the 21st. Based on prior years, there’s going to be another flurry of players into the portal in the last few days.  It’ll be good to have open spots and flexibility when that happens. 
 

It doesn’t make much sense for us to rush to fill out the rest of the roster, especially when they are comfortable with the core of the team. They should take their time to find the right role players that complement the roster and can play off the bench. 
 

I’ll change my tune if they really only fill 10 scholarships, but that would be extremely shocking.

Agree. He factors in returning stats and coaching success. Both if of those factors knock us back.  It definitely isn’t a top 5 team. Or even a top 10 team. 15-35 will feel about right.  We have a lot of question marks we are counting on still. Sisley, Lindsay, Harris, and 3 freshmen. 6 of our core 10 have question marks.

These predictive metrics are a good indicator but they're not deterministic.

I get the value of being ranked in the preseason T25 and I'd like that to happen regularly. I am not upset at the idea of having to play our way into it this year and think we all see a path for that to happen with this improved roster. Coaching as always will be the key.

Agreed, the spots will get filled. But making that statement seems like a settle.  Always be looking for ways to improve the roster.

We will probably hit the bargain bin after other teams fill out more and the gys that are left get a reasonable handle on their value.

There is no time for a break. They’ve got to keep the pedal to the metal. In my opinion, you have to round out this team as fast as possible so they can start practicing and getting used to playing with one another.
We can’t wait around and start shopping the bargain bin although I know we can’t be paying millions of dollars for the rest of the players, but we can’t take guys that are just a step above the hyper either.

Unless this rule changed in the past couple years, teams can't start their first full team pre-season practices until 42 days before their first regular season game. That equates to late September. 

In the summer, there's 8 weeks of practice. Maximum of 8 hours of activities per week, skill instruction is limited to 4 hours per week, so half the time is spent on conditioning and the mental aspect of things. 

I highly doubt the staff that just signed 6 players in a week with numerous apparent back up options having scheduled visits are not on top of the ball. Carr seems to have a clear understanding of how to navigate the market... content to see what he does without an arbitrary time factor imposed on him. Especially if you're someone who wants to add a Euro guy... they will not, for the most part, be available until mid-summer. So it does make some sense to not fill everything asap IMO.

The portal closes next Tuesday, meaning no new players will be able to enter after. Last year there was a late rush to the portal of talented players. You can still sign guys after the portal closes, so that's the time we could look for good value or "bargain bin" as some say... (a break the glass in case of emergency senior PG would make sense here IMO). For all we know right now, the staff could be trying to coax a 3rd big into the portal or working on a Euro connection or something else.
