No thoughts yet. Last year my obsession  was scoring wings. This year it’s PG’s.

Ok, check out Alex Wilkins from Furman. 6'5" freshman who can shoot defend and distribute. Played well against U Conn.

Won a state championship in high school. Would have 3 years of eligibility. Pair him with Daquan Davis and we are set at point guard.

Let us know what you think please.

This reads like an email written for Carr and Devries. Send it!

I watched some of the Furman game...very athletic and can do some things for sure.  I thought he got very loose with the ball at times, but definitely would be a nice addition.

Gotta think with his Boston ties UConn is going to be all over him, especially having just played him. UConn’s guards stink this year.

Who can Indiana convince?  That becomes the most important question there is. Some of these coaches seem to run circles around DeVries in the shark tank.  I like getting those players but it has all the feels where he will need to get his type of guy.

I wanted to be able to recruit off the top of the list, but I don’t know if DeVries has it in him.

What do we have besides money to offer is my question?  I don't know what looks enticing to a prospect unless it's money and playing time.  Most of the better ones want to go to an established program where they can at least know they should be able to showcase their talents in the NCAAs after regular season.  We are starting from scratch again...

Hope he can do it.  Even if Carr identifies good talent, we still have to be able to convince them to come...

Luckily, money and playing time are two of the three biggest parts of the equation for most players.

I think you can see a pretty good pitch for guards between Javon Small and Wilkerson / the green light from 3. I think the pitch for a C is all about how that was the missing piece on this years team and the difference between making or missing the tournament.

Then you just need to find guys willing to buy that pitch. Easier said than done. But that's where the money should help. The premier players will almost certainly want more of a sure thing. But there's no shortage of talented players who would buy those pitches IMO. Just have to scout them correctly.

Convince? You mean over pay for. We dont have a winning pedigree the last 20+ years. We will need to overpay to get an elite roster. Or we will need to nail the evaluations of lesser known guys that will be good enough for the big ten and get us dancing again.

Jackson Shelstad, potentially best pg in the Big Ten if we could land him. Probably 3mil

Anton Bonke 7'2 270, monster on the glass

Chol Machot  7'0 200, 20mpg 9ppg 5rpg 2.5 bpg 2 years of eligibility

I think Arizona is the team to beat for him.

I don’t think anyone is saying not to evaluate mid major players.  But don’t go after just average or above average mid major players and expect a “step up.”   If you’re looking at a mid major guy, he has to be dominant at that level.  Otherwise it’s a big risk.

Absolutely. I would prefer MOST mid major guys we add to be bench pieces as opposed to putting our chances of success on them as starters UNLESS as you mentioned they are dominant at that level. Bailey, Dorn and Conerway are guys that had success but weren't dominant at the mid major level and they tried to force them into starting roles. In general attempting to start 4 mid major guys in the Big Ten is usually going to end poorly unless you're Iowa apparently.

That’s what I heard an elite, proven PG was going for last year. Or at least getting offers for. Might be a touch more this year if upper teams are throwing more in the pot.

I had two granddaughters play soccer there a few years back. They had a fun, young team this year but absolutely no-showed in the CAA tournament. I think their roster unfortunately is about to be raided. Machot can play in the NBA if he develops a consistent offensive game.

One of the girls from my daughter's HS team was a freshman this year on the CoC soccer team.

What coaches are running circles around DeVries? Are you talking recruiting? As in when he came in late with no staff? Has it in him? Don’t think there’s a basis for that observation, but this spring and summer for sure is a test, and Carr should be play a big part

I guess we’ll see.  On and off the court actions haven’t impressed.
