247 scouting report says Dorns strength is moving off the ball.

Love it. Really excited about this kid. He has the physical tools.

We are definitely not going to be lacking athleticism on the wings.

Does anyone know if he visited UNC?

He visited UNC and Maryland. Gonzaga was going all in and wanted him to visit after Indiana.

Solid list of options. Even more of an impressive pickup.

Does this all but but put the Goode return to rest?

I think it does.

We’ve got a mid major all star team going, literally.

DeVries is trying to be the Cignetti of college hoops. I hope it works and translates.

I think these kids will be hungry and coachable.

We are getting our targets. Will it end up being enough to crack the top 25?

If we land Federiko I think we’re in preseason top 25

Let’s hope he’s smart enough to not take his side piece up the elevator on the live tv.

Remember when people were worried IU didn’t have any money? Dude visited a couple big dogs then signed with IU and told Gonzaga “stay poor.” lol…

Remember 11 days ago when people were panicking because we had no commitments?

Everyone knew we’d get commitments. The debate about the quality of the roster still persists. We are 30-40 ranked roster. Will we overachieve? Let’s hope. But it’s not a statement to the college basketball world that we mean business. It’s blue collar approach to roster building. It’s optimistic but it’s still just optimism for a new style and coach.

Michigan and Louisville were a success in this way last year. Maybe Indiana will be next. Maybe not.

It really is a crapshoot and I recommend not putting any stock in any preseason ratings. I’m optimistic bc I think these players for what DDV wants to do as a team. But just because some random preseason poll or torvik rating says one thing doesn’t mean that a team overachieves by doing well. It means that the rankings and torvik preseason ratings are trash. Torvik and kenpom ratings are great the further into the season you go. Typically not worth the time other than talking points before the season.

There absolutely is a fair question about quality of the roster - and will be until we see them on the court.

At the same time, the roster rankings just mean nothing to me after last year's "#1 haul" in the portal ...

IMO next year's team could easily show they're far more talented than this past year's.

And while the computers may rank us at 30-40, the roster people were hyped about last year doesn't look so good now.

247 lists last year's class and this year's class (so far) both having 8 incoming recruits.

  • Outgoing players rankings: 4 four stars, 3 three stars, one no star (Dallas James lol)
  • Incoming player rankings: 7 four stars, one no star (Deuce with multiple years of eligibility)
I am thrilled with the blue collar approach to roster building.

Couldn't care less about making statements to the CBB world right now.

We have to earn it / prove it on the court. Then we can make statements.

All sizzle no stake is more the of a pUKe thing, IMO farting_smiley.gif

Fair enough. His vision is clear at least. Gambling on his scout on mid majors. I like the approach so far. Just in no way a bragging rights type of roster. We will see a fair amount of 5 out basketball and that’ll be fun if we can defend. I’m all in for it. Why not. He’s doing his thing and not trying to appease the fans. I think that’s important too. Just hope it works.
