I pointed out that there are some who find it a good place to live. Was not trying to compare to anywhere else. My point still stands and anecdotal accounts don't disapprove what my point is Scotty R and Indiana8585 1 1 Quote

Popular Post moyemayhem Posted April 13 Popular Post Posted April 13 Where someone would like to live is subjective and completely based on personal preferences. This argument over Bloomington vs. Carmel vs. Evansville vs. San Francisco is ridiculous. Different strokes for different folks. With that said, I think Bloomington is certainly a net positive compared to most college towns. str8baller, cchuntsman, NashvilleHoosier and 5 others 8 Quote
str8baller Posted April 13 Posted April 13 14 minutes ago, Pagoda said: Bad post. Indiana is just fine and Bloomington is very nice. And my point is Bloomington is reasonably accessible, just an easy 50 min drive from a great midsize airport that is close to most of the US population. Nothing like getting to Lincoln, NE. Yea, the Nebraska football comparison fails because Indiana the state is a fertile recruiting ground to be in. Nebraska isn’t for football. Osborne had a good pipeline into California that wasn’t maintained or was overtaken by schools like Oregon. Also Osborne was literally bringing in Murderers and rapists. It’s slim pickings over there in a way IU basketball doesn’t have to deal with. We’ve been terrible but still landed the Gordons, Jeffries, Zellers, and TJDs even though we had nothing going for us at the time other than being Indiana. That is probably less of a selling point in the portal though unless kids want to move closer to home. Pagoda 1 Quote

Again, I lived in Indiana long enough to know that "Indiana is a fantastic place to live" is nonsense lol lol Kiddo! Thanks for thinking I’m much younger than I really am. I’ll be sure to tell my wife who wants me to dye my grey hair. lol. Indiana is a great place to live. It provides me with a good standard of living at a low price. Which then allows me to travel the world and have disposable income. I have friends who spent $1.5 mil on a 1200 sq ft home in the Bay Area in last couple years. Add in the crime and homelessness compared to Indiana, it’s not close. You may not like Indiana, but I love it here. People are friendly as well. Say hello to a random person in the Bay Area and they will think you’re trying to scam them. So I kindly say we will never agree on Indiana being a great state if you don’t like generally friendly people, low cost for standard of living. cybergates, Home Jersey, Ryno6284 and 1 other 4 Quote

Way more people statistically would prefer to live in California, NY, Texas, and Florida. You literally couldn't pay me to live in any of those states. And having said that, Bloomington is also the only place I'd live in Indiana. CSP 1 Quote

Yeah, again, I'm not doing a state comparison here. I stated my argument that Indiana is not a great selling point to athletes. It isn't and that's factual. You love Indiana, great, but unless you can play guard or the 5 better than anybody on the team I don't really care about your personal feelings towards living there Quote

Hey come get out of the inner city to a place that provides safety and security and we will give you money that will actually go further than if you go to UCLA or St John’s. What you’re saying isn’t fact it’s your opinion that you are calling facts. Notre Dame is also in our state is always kills it in recruiting. And South Bend sucks compared to Bloomington. Quote
