I've never received a poorer response than when I've asked. "Hey whatta you think about Isaac McNeely. " lol crickets.

He would be a good shooter.  Has gone to a lot of bad teams though and has never won really.  I think he has something locked up.  Who it is, no idea.

Lamar Wilkerson from Sam Houston hits the portal. Averaged 20.5 and shot 44.5% from 3.

Don’t I recall that kid having a pretty decent game against IU?

thought I saw he was a Louisville lean?

Conwells the better defender.

Did you see Magoon Gwath hit the portal to go along with Dishon Jackson?

I mean you can complain about his shooting but size?  He is 6’2” and 180 lbs.  In Drakes year 2 he shot 45% from 2 and 43% from 3.  Holtmann and Diebler have a really crappy offense and it’s hard to watch.  Lots of standing around, no movement and having a guard attack the basket.

Yes his size. He's small. I know what he shot from 3. As mentioned, I like him.

Yup; also Larry Johnson ( shooting guard from Creighton who’s originally from Huntington WV and was offered by IU just over 2 years ago)

I think Johnson played at SoCal Academy in California so I assume K Barnett is familiar with him

Also played a year at Huntington Prep. Not sure if he actually had an IU offer. He said he did at one point but neither Old Fart nor I could ever find any other indication that was true. Saw him at a showcase event when he was at Huntington Prep and he was an absolutely elite athlete with a pretty jumper whose game really wasn’t that impactful.

I don’t think I saw much of Creighton at all this season; did he play much?

Wrap this JP kid up; he’s got a sweet stroke. Get Enright also for ball handling and leadership. He could also go head to head with Loyer for Flopper of the Year. Need a stud power forward and stretch 5 along with an all big ten potential point. Rice and Carlyle haven’t portalled yet so CDD may believe he can mold them into better players.

Carlyle can defend. If I squint real hard I can see a role for him if Coach DD can’t bring back some IQ to his offensive game. Rice is coach’s biggest call. I think back to the Tennessee scrimmage and can envision the upside of him slicing up defenses.

Here’s the actual problem: We need real verifiable talent on the perimeter. We need depth too thanks to Woodys refusal to recruit. But on the perimeter we need all-conf/pro type talent. So keeping Rice/Carlyle, adding the DePaul kid, Powell? , Goode?, ….pretty soon you have a rotation without any of the aforementioned talent besides Tucker D. With our salary pool, you have to wonder if that’s enough.

I guess Michigan and Dusty were able to get it done without out that type of guard talent but they had two of the best bigs in the conference and I think they finally crap out here in the S16.

Average PG in college is 5’11” and ranges up to 6’3”. He is on the taller side of it.

Donaldson may be one of the better guards in the country.

Every off season I read through the transfer portal thread and see people argue about who we should get or who we shouldn’t. Every year I’m convinced by what I read that IU has gotten their top picks and that we’re going to be really good. Then every year I’m disappointed. This off season I’m just gonna sit back and trust in whoever Coach puts in a Hoosier uniform. I’ve got faith that he knows the caliber of player and mental toughness it takes to play at this level.

That's a good approach.

Fan's look at players like thumbing through a catalog.  It seems Woodson did the same.  I suspect DD will be doing things differently and we may not be able to predict or explain some of his decisions.  All that matters is that he assemble the roster as best he can to produce a competitive, winning team.  Until he's established his recruiting and brought in a couple of classes, we may not see what his ultimate IU team will look like.
