Splitting hairs here, but it's easy to play devil's advocate with Few:

1.) He's older. I know that was ok with Cig, but that limits the time he'd be here and you do wonder about energy levels at a new job.

2.) He's a very introverted guy. IU had that with Miller and it was a problem. That really laid back personality might work much better at a smaller smaller school in a much smaller conference.

3.) He has gotten to a lot of Sweet 16s, the question is how much of a that is from building a great record in a less stellar conference? Gonzaga has gotten a lot of really high seeds from good records in a less difficult conference. High seeds make that first weekend of the tournament a lot easier.

4.) There was that DUI.

5.) Did losing Lloyd as his lead recruiter hurt his recruiting? Wasnt he Few's pipeline to Euros that had created so much of his success? Will he still experience the same level of success w/o them?

Just throwing that all out there...

I don’t care what conference you are in it’s not easy to win on the road. In my opinion Few is a top 10 coach in college basketball. I would take him as a coach in a heart beat. As far as age goes 62 not ideal but could easily coach another 10 years plus. I am 100% on board.

As for who knows where the origin of the word “discussion” comes from or the idea Woody is “contemplating” retiring … yes, likely a degree of media not erroneously reporting. But also this was all just smoke from burners before Goodman jumped in with that wording and everyone else piled on. It could be just as simple as that, it could also be that Mike’s camp got ahead of all the rumors and said he’s “contemplating” it to make it look like he’s not getting fired. And if he doesn’t finish at end of season, as is “currently expected” while the “terms of exit are negotiated” then it will be obvious Dolson canned him. Been a lot of talk about wanting to avoid those optics, for obvious reasons. Bottom line IMO: the “contemplating” narrative is only helpful to one side and it’s not IU

I hope Woody’s window to do this his way is closing and IU is preparing to fire him immediately if he keeps screwing around.

Unless "The King" has some dirt on someone, how could he possibly make this ugly? He goes crying to the media? He has no backers other than Buckner..."They fired me because I could not get over the hump! Thats not nice!"....Give me a break...UNLESS he has something on someone, they should just fire him. He did not meet our expectations and we do not see that changing in the future. Let him throw a tantrum but he has very little to stand on UNLESS he has dirt, IMO.

Indiana is a "fire at will" state so good luck with any lawsuit, Woodrow.

Most outlets will list 5 or 10 guesses when a coaching search opens.

Not "The Daily Hoosier."

They list no less than 32 candidates.

Dolson's gonna be busy over the next month and a half -- interviewing all these guys!

13 days after Archie was fired felt like an eternity. I can't imagine what 40+ days will be like...

I didn't believe it was 13 days after Archie till I saw that post. I would have put that at 30 days for sure.

But we have to remember we usually do this at the beginning of March not the beginning of February.

No.  Just don't.

I do not like personally attacking anyone.  This includes Woodson and Buckner and Knight.  Maybe point out bad decisions, but why toss old players under the bus?  Even if they are doing crappy jobs in our opinions, say that.  Otherwise, it really is petty and seeking some sort of retribution.

Oh well.  MHO.

In the end, Mike Woodson is a public employee.  If a person that is paid -- not sure if he is the highest paid public employee in Indiana, but he's up there -- refuses to answer to the media and is a pain to anyone who has legitimate questions -- then they should face criticism.

Please,no to Little Dick Pitino!

I don't want him either. This is IU though and can never get these hires right so we should probably prepare to be disappointed.

Some investigative reporter in Indiana would probably generate some notoriety for themselves by digging into the Quinn Buckner era and writing an exposé. I’m sure there is plenty to cover and probably enough publicly available info to paint a very unpretty picture.

Absolutely would love it.

The shenanigans around the whole Woodson tenure certainly would warrant an investigation. The latest episode hijacking an IU jet for personal use is more evidence.

If there's graft and corruption in any of this, it needs to be exposed and the guilty held accountable. Corruption? Malfeasance? Misuse of university assets?

Woody showed his true character during his four years as head coach. Criticizing said demonstrated character isn’t “character assassination.”

He has been set on assassinating his own character, IMO. He could have just said "Hey, I tried my best, but I just can't seem to get it done. I don't want to drag the university that I love through the mud and more losses, so I am going to step down and start my next chapter in life...retirement"...He would have been cheered and that is how he would have been remembered.... Woody chooses the hard way.

What does that even mean?

There is now no way Woodson will be the coach next year, it's already public that he won't be.

Does it mean he wants to "make some noise" with the team by winning some games? In that case, what is he actually going to do differently than he was doing before? What he's been doing wasn't working. Is he going to start trying all of a sudden? In that case, he should be fired for not putting in the effort until he was being shown the door. I guess some of the last few games look winnable, just like last year. So maybe they could win some games and feel like they turned it around when it was actually just a favorable schedule.

I don't really care what Woodson does at this point. He won't be the coach after this year. I don't think he can fix his image/coaching legacy in the last few games. It's more likely it's just more embarrassment for himself.

Right? I mean, I HOPE that Woody has already been trying as hard as he possibly could to win games. LOL

At my desk at the office for another day of blowing off work and refreshing this page.  Good luck to all my follow "true fans" on not getting caught by your bosses today reading, posting and refreshing.  Cheers all and let's have a great weekend!

Word.

BTW, I'm retired and my boss is at work.

Now, let's get this entitled, incompetent Parasite in Chief fired...

Having slept on it, I’ve come to the conclusion it had to be Woody’s camp that leaked all the nonsense. It paints IU into a corner from a professional standpoint. Making this seem like “woody’s choice” has made it essentially impossible for IU to spot fire him.

It might be about contract leverage for the buyout, but I doubt that, Woody is owed more if he is fired for performance than he will get in a negotiation. He has no bargaining position. What he has, is the ability to craft a narrative that does maximum pain to the University and maximum protection of his fragile ego. That’s where we are. Woody is not leaving the sideline unless he chooses to. Period. That’s clear (and whether Dolson wanted to spot fire or not, now he can’t ) and it is due to Woody controlling the narrative. There is simply no reason for IU to allow or want some narrative such as what leaked about “contemplating” or “unlikely to coach next season.” FOH. Zero chance that came from the university.

Not surprising... I've been off that cesspool for over 10 years... would possibly miss Woodson more than I have FB, TBH*.

* neither would be missed at all
