Lol… I’d probably throw him in the Brownell category. We’d be fine, but no championships incoming. He’s also a strong personality and I wonder if he’d eventually wear thin with the Indiana HS coaches. Williams would actually build a program. He has done it at 3 different places. He has a shelf life of about 5 or 6 years before he moves on. IU needs someone to reset the culture and get them to being in the conversation again. Buzz would do that. Worry about championships when someone gets the program out of the middle of the B1G AZ Hoosier, Stuhoo, FortWayneHoosier and 3 others 6

Worry about championships when someone gets the program out of the middle of the B1G If I were in a bunker somewhere with Dolson strategizing, I’d probably suggest something like the following.: 1) Call Stevens (or May if you love him) and give them the godfather offer. Let em know you’re getting it right this time and they’ll likely never have an opportunity to coach at IU (if that means anything to them) or make this much money coaching again. Give them 48hrs to decide and move on. 2) While you got the donors checkbook open, call up one of Bennett or Wright—whomever you think is likelier to coach again—and offer them the same deal but with 5-6 years instead of 10. It’s their best chance to 2x or 3x their net worth at this age and IUs best chance at conf and National titles in the next 5 years. 3) Pick your guy from the McDermont, Devries, shaka, Buzz (for usps) group of guys who are guys who Midwest guys who are experienced and can coach their @$$ off. Offer them 3-5mil knowing multiple S16/E8s are a floor and a good baseline to build off of. If you can’t accomplish any of that you don’t deserve to be the AD at IU. I will say prior to IU hiring Kelvin Sampson, McDermott was a guy I thought IU should consider based on him putting Northern Iowa on the map. Not saying I wouldn't want him, but there is that one hiccup in his resume. str8baller 1
RaceToTheTop Posted January 31, 2025 Posted January 31, 2025 Here is the twist that IU fans will get. 1. IU fires Woodson. 2. IU hires May. 3. But it's not Dusty, it's Scott. Home Jersey, IUFAN1976, tkbbn and 5 others 2 4 2
AH1971 Posted January 31, 2025 Posted January 31, 2025 Nobody seems to be mentioning Will Wade or Chris Mack. Former P5 guys with success who are re-inventing themselves after being put in timeout. Those are actual realistic candidates who would seriously consider IU if offered. ap2345, RaceToTheTop, mamasa and 1 other 4
