Yeah, this. There is zero, absolutely zero, reason to believe that Stevens would have any interest in coaching in college basketball in 2025. The only people who even delusionally bring this up are IU fans every time there's a coaching change (which unfortunately happens regularly around here).

Our fanbase is showing massive signs of trauma at this point...LOL

Move on, people.

I'm trying to figure out what would be the draw of Bloomington to May. Is IU really a better job than Michigan at this point? And he's already in Ann Arbor, he's well on his way to getting his program established. Why would he even remotely consider moving?

The way it's going to go down, IMO, is that May is going to use IU interest to get a nice bump in salary.

Do you know the operating budget for basketball at Michigan compared to IU? Are you aware of what actually is happening with Stevens?  Just as you push the narrative as there’s no way Brad comes is the same as the criticism you level against those that do believe it to be possible. You can’t have it both ways.

I had heard of Stevens early this year, back in November! It’s not a pipe dream I can assure you of that.

I think we reached out to see if the timing was right. Was told he wasn't leaving till they won the NBA championship or the team he assembled fell apart. So we announced that Mike would return, and Dolson kept up a casual conversation with Brad. By the way they won the NBA championship

All the planets align on January 25th - an omen?

I still think Brad needed a shower after that comment. It was so fake and cringey that I still can't believe he said it lol

It’s like Boomerang.  It’s all coming back to me.  I remember when he said that.  That was so weird.  He had to have been forced to say that.

I’m sure that him and his family have really enjoyed being in Boston. His kids have grown up there. It’s home for them.
But at the time you could tell it was something that had to be said to kill the story. It was too emphatically said.

Plus there will be new ownership this summer for the Celtics

That's just not true. Seth Davis raised it as a possibility just last spring:

Agreed on all points.  Time will tell if Brad really does want the IU job.  I still think he does.

I’m a know nothing who just reads things here. But to me it all comes down to what guys life goals are. He’s done achieved the top goal at Boston and checked that off the list. So now it just comes down to does he wanna stay there and be contempt trying to achieve the same thing over and over or does he want to try and achieve something else. With family and Indiana and a son at Notre Dame then ya maybe giving it a shot at IU is something he’s ready to try.
