I grew up an Indiana fan and have seen Isiah in person wearing candy stripe warmups. I have sweated, cried tears of joy and failure in an Indiana lockerroom. I have spent all day in the Library studying in the stacks to get an A in a Psychology class and fought back tears on the steps outside Woodburn because I failed a physics exam that I also studied for (eventually I got it!). I partied every weekday night for Little 5 week despite waking up nauseous everyday and saying, "I am not going out tonight." I have been to NCAA competitions cheering the Hoosiers for numerous sports for men and women since my time in Bloomington was up. My kids have now seen my photos on the wall, and are Hoosier fans themselves. I am an Indiana Hoosier through and through. What's your street cred? No offense was intended to you, Patsy. You opened the door. Not sure when you attended or what sport you played, but good for you. I grew up in an IU family, had family who attended and worked for the University (undergraduate and graduate school), attended and graduated, and have gone to sporting events prior to most posters here being alive (the IUF was in the Union when I first came on the scene, I attended games in the New Fieldhouse, we parked under the stadium and ate lunch under there before football games, and I attended Little 500 in the 10th Street Stadium). This is the point you're missing or simply not wanting to hear. We don't really care how Diebler will do long term. The example was what he did the remainder of the season that he took over. The team played better when he took over and the situation around the program changed for the better. Relating it to our situation, we are not necessarily wanting to remove Woodson to be better THIS season, but keeping him will only make it worse at this point. A change is what is needed now based on where the atmosphere around this program is now, is heading and has been heading long before this season even started. Everyone with any common sense, knows this should have happened at the end of last season but here we are. We don't expect the results to be the same as Diebler or even similar, but we want ANYTHING different than what we have now (firing) or at least a path to a new beginning (retirement announcement) to have hope that a brighter future is coming. A change would halt the abhorrent atmosphere that is currently taking place around the program and jump start the process of getting us to better days ahead. The people who are saying that are correct. 2) the best decisions are made by logic and by a process. Kathy is correct in saying those things. However, in this case, logic and a reasonable process of evaluating data and history, paint us to the fact that a separation is necessary. When a separation becomes necessary it’s best to do it immediately rather than dragging it out. The emotional argument here isn’t to get rid of him. The emotional argument is to keep- ie, letting him retire with dignity as a program legend. plenty of data backs up the idea that he needs to go so you do it once your processes and your logic (data) show you this. As another poster said previously when you determine a patient is ill you don’t wait and hope that the disease will miraculously turn around or cure itself… you take the necessary steps to start fixing the problem immediately. again, having said that I will say you can’t just fire someone without any plan. You have to have a logic based plan on how you are going to deal with the interim as well as the long-term solution. Based on past experience, I struggle to see IU excelling here. In summary, that someone who deals with this a lot and also is a coach, albeit at a much lower level- I think they should move on immediately, but need to rapidly have a solid plan in place. No real good solutions to this problem that they should have solved last off-season. I apologize for the length to anyone who’s stuck with this. In other words, “can his a$$”! JaybobHoosier 1

Long term health of the program is better if we keep losing by 25 to end the year, rather than firing the man responsible and saying publicly "this is not tolerated at Indiana University". Capt. Crimson Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 Those Cooks and the other Cooks have watched this team lose 5 games by a total of 111 points. 111 points, that is unreal. If they keep that up and there are no signs of life here that will change and they don’t let him go or announce it then they are not only watching this place burn down but also throwing fuel on the fire. Anyone complicit in that should be fired along with WoodsonThats only an average of 22 pts a game!!! /s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk MikeRoberts 1
PartyintheVillas Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 I think what we have all debunked today is any notion that KCathy has any insider knowledge, and only emotional attachment to the old guard that is now failing over and over again while unwilling to make any changes. reconmkd Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 I am not sure if this qualifies as a reason, but it would be something I would be concerned about running a program. Last night we saw the Hall go from relatively full to less attendees during a major snowstorm in a short amount of time. Yes those empty seats, chants, and boos look terrible on TV, but those empty seats also are not buying concessions. I have heard (I work in Louisville) that concession sales was part, possibly really small part, of the reason they fired their Woody when they did. I was a little shocked at the numbers that were been said that came from game time concessions (beer). The losses were HUUUUGE. With as many that left last night, the empty seats I have seen at all the games I have been too, and the potential for future empty crowds, retaining the status quo could become very costly. hper50 1
