Yep, I can for sure see this as being a possible scenario. I agree that Woody seems more lackadaisical than before, and it’s aside from just the losses. I’m curious to know that if this is indeed the way things are working out, it’ll mean no matter how bad we fall of the tracks the rest of the way, we can expect to see Woodson finish out the season. Is there actually the possibility of him being done before the season ends if the losses get bad enough? I know some have mentioned he could be gone after an Illinois loss, but if there’s been some sort of exit strategy in place where he gets some money to “retire” at the end of the year, then I don’t see it happening…..but if he could indeed be done after an Illinois loss, then let’s lose by 30 just to make sure, haha.
An agreed upon exit I assume includes a massive payout to him and a last game celebration at assembly hall to honor the king for bringing us back from the depths of hell. Maybe they name the court "the kings court".

If those #s are true.... we had 13 million in NIL total and Cignetti got less than half of that?!?!!? Guys. This is stupid.

F basketball. IDGAF about the Simon's, they don't just get to donate to basketball directly.

Yea, I’m pretty sure our FB NIL was a little over $4M last year, which is probably around 30-40th in the country it’s hard to know.  And as we know BB is around $6M and top-5.  Woody wasted it all.  I wish Cig could have got a few million more last year instead.

On the bright side, 75% of the revenue share will go to FB, and FB NIL keeps climbing.  More money is heading to Cig where it will be used wisely to produce results.

I legitimately think that Cignetti can win a national championship in football. Maybe that’s stupid of me to think, but he just went 11-2 and made the playoff with loose couch cushion money for NIL. Give him a top payroll and the sky’s the limit. Putting NIL toward our basketball program is a waste of money until proven otherwise. The Simon’s lighting $6 million on fire would’ve been as useful this year as giving it to Mike Woodson.

No doubt there are signs woodson knows he is out. Just hoping i am not reading to much into them. I felt the same towards the end of last season and was wrong. My wild long shot prayer is dolson had his home run lined up last season but he couldn't start or commit to the job till 25 26 season lol. Hoping he talked woodson into staying to land the big fish. That's my dream!

So, if your boss does something you don't agree with your quitting?  No matter if it hurts you or your family.

Morally, Izzo is scum and helped cover up the sexual assaults. Hell yes I'm quitting. I think Fife is a POS also, but, if it were me in that situation, yep, outta there

If we end up with May, then it actually seems better that we got to see him succeed one year at UM/B1G so he either continues to succeed at IU or if he doesn't then we know the rumors/stories about something being wrong with IU admin/basketball that have been floating around since the Crean days actually have some merit.

If we got him last year, sure we wouldn't have had to endure this mess another year, but if he didn't succeed here, we would have just looked at him as another Archie Miller type of coach that couldn't make the jump.

Whatcha think Creighton pays NIL-wise? Our results don't tickle what they've done the past 4 years.

We all thought he seemed he knew he was gone last year and next thing you know they give him a six million dollar check. The king is not going to be ready to get rid of imo.

yeah for sure, it's definitely better for us.... if May still wants IU.

Hell end up a starter at a golf course to get free rounds

Nothing wrong with that. I do that on weekends in the spring and summer

Actually, the way NIL is supposed to work, they kind of do.  They can pick the dudes or dudetts they want to sponsor.

everyone is entitled to their opinion but the continuous bashing and calling Fife a “POS” and “a Prick” etc…is complete BS and nauseating. It’s gone on for what? 3 years now. That dude bleeds Crimson ‘n Cream and also, barring something unforeseen, he’s not returning to coaching. He’s built himself a successful career outside of basketball.

I wasn’t one to bash him, just sharing my $.02 here.

I don’t agree with calling him a POS by any means. What I will say is that my father was a coach at a school he worked at at the same time and he was not very well liked almost unanimously. He gave off a “I’m above you” vibe to almost everyone. In an odd way, similar to Woodson

He threatened to transfer if we didn't choose the coach he wanted, how cream n crimson is that?

Really? He’s not the first or last player to do that. Pre NIL, many of these players played for the head coaches more so than the school because these coaches served as another father figure. He played for Bob Knight. All the players on that team were united together in who they wanted as their next coach.

Having known him personally, I'm 100% entitled to that POS remark.

And they all looked like idiots for backing Davis. We should have hired Jay Wright then and told the players to piss off.

But yes, really.
