Sure.  He was on the hot seat last year.  So you're not going to extend him.  He's on the hot seat again this year.  He was given the money to build a top 10 team.  They are under performing that metric.  However, IF he ends up with top 25 results and a makes the tourney, the likelihood that he returns, and gets that extension goes up.  Right now it's wait and see.

Just needs top 50ish result to make the 68 team tournament.

It would be incredibly irresponsible to retain a 67 year old coach who isn't actively recruiting anymore and is routinely skipping out on media sessions. The head coach at IU simply cannot be invisible to the public eye. It needs to be made clear to Woodson (if it hasn't already) that if he wants this job, he needs to put forth a lot more effort in these areas.

Didn't IU host a recruit last night?

Yes before the game Mike spent a lot of time recruiting that high profile recruit, believe Woody said he is named, Hans Solo, from Kosovo

So Woodson did host a recruit for an official visit last night? Just wanted clarification as that seems to go against the "not actively recruiting anyone" narrative. I believe that high profile recruit is in Madison this weekend along with Creighton and Virginia after.

All snarkiness both from you and from those responding to you aside? (Because all that snarkiness and personal passive-aggressiveness makes for a crap-tastic thread)

I would say that when the first meet is the official visit and the player is a late decision who is deciding in a few weeks, that's not most people's definition of "actively recruiting."

Trent Sisley was Woody and staff actively recruiting. This is a speed dating/get a late commit play and Woody has been very good with that dynamic.

Guessing the chances the person I responded too knew that IU was hosting an official for a 25 recruit last night were next to zero.

I think you're guessing wrong. These posters keep up and the board and IU media has publicized the visit.

I feel a very strong connection to Mackenzie Mgbako. Who do you guys think taught him how to cuss out Taco Bell workers at the drive thru in the early hours of the morning?

My connection would be Carlysle if my coaches hadn’t restricted me from shots outside 6 feet from the rim. They never let me fly, they never saw the jumper for what it was. Sad.

Curious if the people who think he will be back next year have been to a game in Assembly Hall this year?  There is more to it than wins and losses.  The program has no juice right now. I would hope that Dolson sees this with his own eyes and regardless of if IU makes a 68 field tournament they move on because it’s definitely in the best interest of the program.   When my wife and kids  are  pointing out that there is a different feel in the building you know the program is in a bad spot.   Curious if others that go frequently feel the same bad vibes that I felt last night

Yes. I have season tickets, and the atmosphere in the Hall has been very weak this year. I'm not hearing people actively boo Woody, but the energy level has been lower than in years past, and fans are quick to turn to groans when anything goes remotely bad.

Ticket prices on the secondary market this season are also lower than typical.

When I said "actively" recruiting I meant getting off his @$$ and visiting/watching high school players, meeting with them off campus, going to their games, etc. You know, stuff successful coaches do.

Good to know that Woodson put in whatever work was necessary to get this kid to come to last night's game. I'm ecstatic at the possibility of doubling the size of our current recruiting class.
To be fair didn't Woodson go at least one Indiana hs gym in 4 years. Didn't dolson make him go watch mullins? I think he brought his wife with. Must of had a wine tasting after.
