What's even more comical is we could pay a coach half what we pay Woodson and spend half the nil and still probably have the same results

Probably better.  I remember Crean’s first 3 years, those teams didnt have the quality of players but they played much harder than this team and competed in a lot of games.  I wonder how good Crean’s first teams would have been if he had NIL and the transfer portal

Crean is a far better coach than Woodson. So was Davis. Archie is the closest to Woodson but would probably be better with nil.

Archie is a way better coach than woodson. His “system” works at smaller schools in smaller conferences.  He like many coaches failed to adapt to the big time.

Isn’t Archie 11-1 at Rhode Island?

I think X was a headcase regardless of the coach.. I think he is 2nd to Woody for being detrimental for the program... JMO...

X had some talent and moments.  He played out of control at times.  X won us a few games and cost us a few games.  I would have preferred that we had developed Rob Phinisee.  Rob was one of my favorite players.  I love that Rob was instrumental in beating Purdue.

Xavier Johnson had some physical talent, mentally he was a bag of rats in a house fire. Also might be a prime example of there being no accountability under Woodson.

IMO, any Woodson retirement will give him a golden parachute on the way out the door.

Yea, if he is fired end of this season IU has to pay him his remaining contract of $8.4M.  However, we only have to pay $1M/yr until that amount is paid off, which helps.

This convo really makes me want to start a topic on players whose potential was wasted over the last 8 years.  We know Woody is a terrible coach what could a good coach or moderate coach have done with him.

Kind of surprised people are down on Goode and Carlyle. Goode is a known commodity from a solid program and good coach. Seems beyond obvious Woody/IU is failing him not vice versa. I suspect Carlyle can be a good P5 guard, too. I hope he sticks around.

I think both players would be improved in a better system.

Yea i mean I don't judge these kids to much. Same show year after year fault the coaches. Imo Archie equals woodson. Similar problems hopefully it's not to deep

Retirement would alleviate some if not most future financial considerations, correct?

Idk because there’s more to it than just retiring
